Augsburg is the second oldest city in Germany. Its high time was in the late middle ages. The water system of the city is a world cultural heritage. Luther's reformation influenced the city. The Golden Hall at the city's hall is wolrd famous. At the Fuggerei social living from the Middle Ages is our focus. You will see also the Church of Saint Ulrich and Afra and the city palace of the Family Fugger and the Red Tower of the water system.

Meeting Point
Saint Anna Monastery
Saint Anna Monastry
The reformator Martin Luther lodged in this monastry in October 1518, when he stayed in Augsburg for discussion with the papal envoy Cajetan. Today the monastry and the church are protestant, but the church has a catholic chapel inside.
City Hall and its surroundings
The Augsburg City Hall is a Renaissance building. It includes the famous Golden hall. In its surroundings we find the Jewish quarter from the Middle Ages.
Fuggerei
The Fuggerei is a housing quarter, more exactly nearly a tiny housing city in the city, founder by the rich and famous family Fugger in the Middle Ages. Catholic citizens of Augsburg can apply to live there temporarly, if they deteroriated to social hardships, financial, professional problems. They pay a very low rent, especially in today's terms and when they have improved their lives they leave the Fuggerei - social living since the Middle Ages
Church of Saint Ulrich and Afra
This church tells the story of city saints and their realtions to civil life in the city.
Red Water tower
The Red water tower is one of the main items of the water supply systems that supplies water to the city since the MIddle ages. We end the tour here.
