Private tour (only you and Matthew M.)
Up to 7 people

Walk through the gates that thousands never left, with a WWII historian. Cell blocks, barracks, execution sites — hear the stories behind Nazi Germany's model camp. Max 7. Half-day from Berlin.

Half-day tours of Sachsenhausen are common. Specialist ones are not.

We give you 3 hours on site with a WWII historian — long enough to cover what most tours rush, including the chapters most leave out entirely.

10:00 AM

Meeting Point

Park Inn by Radisson Berlin Alexanderplatz

- Main Vehicle Entrance on Alexander Straße. Your guide will be holding a sign that reads "Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp Tour".

SS Deathshead Division Inspectorate — 20 mins

You'll begin where the entire Nazi camp system was administered. From here, the SS Death's Head Division ran every camp — Auschwitz, Dachau, Buchenwald, Ravensbrück. Why was the system designed this way? We start with the question.

SS Quarters and Training Ground

You'll see the SS residential quarters and the former Death's Head Division training ground — now a Berlin/Brandenburg police training centre. The post-war reuse of this ground is one of Germany's most uncomfortable inheritances.

Tower A and the “Arbeit Macht Frei” Gate

You'll pass through the gate that thousands walked through and never walked back. Tower A was the architectural centrepiece — the point where new arrivals were stripped of their identity. The dehumanisation was deliberate, by design.

Aerial View and Camp Design

You'll see the camp's triangular layout. Why a triangle? A single guard tower at the apex could oversee everything. Every camp that followed used this design. The architecture was the weapon. We explain how it worked.

Shoe Testing Track

You'll walk the 700-metre track where prisoners were forced to march up to 40 kilometres a day testing boot materials for German companies. Many of those sent here were homosexual prisoners.

Jewish Quarter and Barracks

You'll enter the reconstructed barracks and see how Jewish prisoners lived — and died — at Sachsenhausen. We cover the daily routine, the prisoner hierarchy, the capos, and the persecution of Jewish detainees before the death camps.

Internal Prison and Cells

You'll stand in the prison within the prison. Standing cells. Blackout cells. The cell where Stalin's son Yakov Dzhugashvili was held. These were the punishments designed for prisoners already sent to a concentration camp.

Camp Kitchens — Break —

You'll have a short break here. The original camp kitchens are now an exhibition space. Your guide will be available for any questions before the second half of the tour, which covers the most difficult ground.

Central Memorial and Soviet Special Camp

You'll visit the central memorial and hear the chapter most tours leave out: after 1945, the Soviets reused Sachsenhausen as Special Camp No. 7. Around 12,500 people died here between 1945 and 1950.

Station Z

You'll stand at Station Z — the execution facility. The neck-shot trench where 10,000 Soviet POWs were murdered in 1941. The gas chamber. The crematorium. The mass graves. We take our time here.

Camp Infirmary and Medical Block

You'll see the infirmary — the building where the line between medical care and medical experimentation was deliberately blurred. We cover the experiments conducted here and the SS doctors who designed them.

Camp Brothel

You'll stop at the camp brothel. The women's experience at Sachsenhausen is consistently excluded by mainstream tours. We include it. We name it. We explain what happened here.

Memorial Plaques and Return Drive

You'll pay respects at the memorial plaques to all victim groups before returning to the van. The drive back to Berlin is the debrief — questions, context, and the wider history. You'll arrive at Alexanderplatz with the full picture.

Ending Point

Return: Park Inn by Radisson Berlin Alexanderplatz
