- We begin our morning by meeting at the entrance and setting off together towards one of Delhi’s most beautiful green heritage spaces — Sunder Nursery. As we step inside, the city noise fades and wide garden pathways, historic monuments and birdsong take over. This gentle walk sets the tone for a slow, relaxed Sunday as we explore nature, history and local life at an easy pace.

Persian script amidst tombs

As we continue our walk, the gardens slowly reveal layers of history and quiet beauty. We pause at elegant Mughal-era tombs, step inside cool domed chambers filled with intricate geometric carvings, and watch the sunlight stream through delicate lattice windows. The path then opens toward peaceful lotus ponds where locals come to relax, practice yoga, and enjoy the morning calm. There is a vegetable garden with organic produce - a feast to the eyes.

If we’re lucky, a peacock may appear along the garden paths, proudly dancing in full colour — a magical moment that perfectly captures the spirit of a slow Sunday in Delhi.

Hidden greenery amidst tombs

While most walkers forget that there is something so precious inside the nursery, we will meander and discover 2 hidden structures of Mughal era that have been kept without much restoration so as to maintain its originality - where peacocks also take solace from human noise. These have beautiful pathways amidst greenery for some serene walk and photography.

Farmers market

The Sunday farmers market at Sunder Nursery is a joyful gathering of Delhi’s slow-food and sustainable living community. Local farmers arrive with seasonal organic fruits and vegetables, while small producers showcase fresh breads, homemade spreads, natural products and regional specialties. The atmosphere is relaxed and social, with the aroma of home-style food being cooked by local women and the chance to chat directly with the people who grow and make what you taste. It’s the perfect way to end the walk — browsing, tasting and soaking in a truly local Sunday tradition.

We continue to sit, relax, do some shopping if you like & have delicious healthy food.

You can explore underground Humayun Museum or Humayun tomb next to Sunder nursery. We bid each other good bye-till we meet again.

This tour is designed for a Sunday due to Farmers market. But if you want to do a walking tour without the market, I am open on all days of the week.
