Would you like to learn more about Bologna & the Emilia-Romagna region through its wines and delicacies? I’ll take you to some local venues and reveal the best spots in town for an authentic foodie experience. During this experience, you’ll taste a couple of glasses of our regional wines, all paired with local specialities and street food delicacies such as tigelle or crescenta bolognese, prosciutto di Parma, mortadella IGP, Parmigiano Reggiano DOP. And, of course, the celebrated fresh pasta.

Mercato delle Erbe
We'll start the experience from the largest covered market in the historical city centre, where you'll order like a real local prosciutto, mortadella and Parmigiano and visit in person local food shops.
From the market, we'll pass through the Qadrilatero area, where craft and mercantile tradition from the middle Age is still alive. Walking through the narrow streets of this area, you can definitely discover why one of Bologna's nicknames is "La Grassa" (The Fat), by visiting the old food shops and admiring its treats.
You'll jump back in time and eat the food - previously bought at the Mercato delle Erbe- and sip a glass of regional wine inside one of the oldest osteria in town. The first documents about it are set in 1465. This is the only place in town where you can consume your own food.
Ragu is what is called the "bolognese sauce" elsewhere in the world. To make you familiarize yourself with the only official word - and accepted by locals !- to call this sauce, we'll taste fresh pasta at e street food place called Ragu!
We'll end the tour with an artisanal gelato in one of the many family-owned gelateria in the old town.

I’m a certified Tour Leader in Emilia Romagna and with me, you can discover the original charm and lively character of the fascinating cities of this region like Bologna and Ferrara, get insider stories, and discover hidden gems and local markets.
If it's true that the place where we are born says so much about us, then Bologna and generally my region Emilia Romagna represent my best business card. I love good food, good company and traditions, but at the same time, I consider myself a curious globetrotter.
This last aspect has led me to explore different cultures, languages, and countries: I've lived in Estonia, Spain, Germany, and Canada at different stages of my life. I keep unique memories of each of those places, because I have been fortunate enough to share my experiences with locals, and I acknowledge how this aspect can make a visit unique.
