Kimathi Street and Deadan Kimathi Monument
Widely regarded as a revolutionary leader, he led the armed military struggle against the British colonial regime in Kenya in the 1950s until his capture in 1956 and execution in 1957. Kimathi is credited with leading efforts to create formal military structures within the Mau Mau, and convening a war council in 1953.
The 'Askari Monuments' on Kenyatta Avenue
At the outbreak of the First World War Tanzania was the core of German East Africa. From the invasion of April 1915, Commonwealth forces fought a protracted and difficult campaign against a relatively small but highly skilled German force under the command of General von Lettow-Vorbeck. When the Germans finally surrendered on 23 November 1918, twelve days after the European armistice, their numbers had been reduced to 155 European and 1,168 African troops.
MacMillan Library
History. The library was built by the McMillan family to celebrate William Northrup McMillan, who died in 1925. Conceived by Lucie McMillan, construction of the building was largely financed by the Carnegie Corporation of New York, close family friends of the McMillans
Jamia Mosque
Founded by Syed Maulana Abdullah Shah in the year 1902 and constructed between 1925 and 1933, Jamia Mosque became the center of Muslim religious organization throughout the pre-independent and independent years
National Museum and Snake Park
The Nairobi Snake park at Nairobi National Museum was started in January 1961 as a popular attraction site for visitors and as a research centre on reptiles and breeding of snakes. The Snake Park also serves as a home for rescued and threatened reptiles.
August 7 Memorial Park
The August 7th Memorial Park is located at the 1998 United States embassy bombings scene along Haile Selassie Avenue in Nairobi, Kenya. It contains a notice board listing the names of all people that were reported dead after the incident.
KICC Rooftop Helipad
The Centre is currently one of the state corporations established under the Tourism Act 2011. Its objective and purpose is to promote the business of Meetings, Incentive Travel, Conferences and Exhibitions also known as MICE.
