Paul gave us a lot of info about how Confucianism influenced Korean society during the Joseon period and how it influenced the architecture of Gyeongbokgung versus other palaces in Korea. This helped us appreciate more of what we saw. We also enjoyed the food Paul recommended at Gwangjang Market. Great service! Will recommend!
I am happy to see my guest understand what I would like to share the context about cultural history of Korea and Confucianism. Architectural style reflects the spirit of times, so all palaces of Joseon Dynasty, including Gyoengbokgung reflect Confucianism, its national ideology. Knowledge allows guests to fully appreciate the authentic value and beauty of Gyongbokgung and all other architectures in Seoul.
We had a great time with Paul in Seoul. Paul has a profound knowledge about korean history. We learnt a lot about the differences between confucianism and buddhism, very interesting! We were also able to try different korean food. It’s not only bbq and bulgogi!
Before we started tour, we shared Korean cultural history, brief context about Confucianism and how Gyeongbokgung reflects it, and those contexts apply to the information about palace buildings at palace, so guests said that they could appreciate the authentic value and beauty of Gyeongbokgung. They said that they can figure out Confucian cultural of Korea that is completely different from the culture of Japan and China. Finally. guests said that they can open their eyes and differently see palace from the context about Confucianism and cultural history of Korea and they really enjoy their tour. Their saying made me greatly rewarded.
Paul was an exceptional tour guide in Seoul! With a group of 8 people, she managed to keep us engaged and informed throughout our journey. Her deep knowledge of the city's history and culture was evident, and she had a knack for making every stop on our tour feel special. Paule's friendly and approachable demeanor made the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone exploring Seoul!
As an old saying goes, a soldier sacrifices his life to serve his lord who recognizes him. Compliments make elephants dance. Great guests deserve great service. Again, thank you for your warm heart and spirit. "Architectural style has changed with the spirit of times." is common sense, so my information start from this concept. I am happy to see guest's understanding on this unusual tourist information, based on cultural context of spirit of the time, what Confucianism is and how Gyeongbokgung reflect Confucianism of Joseon Dynasty. Joseon Dynasty was the only Confucianism fundamentalist country in world. Without the knowledge of Confucianism, only superficial appreciation is available, but we can not fully appreciate the beauty and value of not only Gyenongbokgung but also all traditional architectures in Seoul.
