- Our meeting point is beneath a large strangler fig tree on a quiet street that serves as a parking area and is closed to regular traffic. Please arrive 10 minutes before the scheduled departure. Look for a white car or van with green letters and numbers on the license plates; the same vehicle number is also displayed on the rear side of the vehicle. Please keep your phone handy, as we may contact you with last-minute updates if street closures, events, or races require a change to the meeting point. The itinerary below is an example. Every tour is customized according to your interests, available time, physical ability, and the day of the week (e.g., Tlacolula Market is available only on Sundays).

PETRIFIED MINERAL WATERFALLS OF HIERVE EL AGUA

Experience Hierve el Agua beyond the viewpoints. Join a local guide for a 50-minute hike through the surrounding landscape, home to endemic flora and wild agaves, before relaxing at the natural pools. Your visit directly supports the local community that protects this unique site.

Tour Important Information

* This tour includes a moderate 50-minute hike on uneven terrain. A reasonable level of fitness is recommended. Guests with serious mobility, knee, back, or heart conditions may find the hike challenging.

* Not suitable for wheelchairs or strollers.

* Bring comfortable walking or hiking shoes with good grip.

* Bring a swimsuit, towel, and a change of dry clothes if you plan to enjoy the mineral pools.

* A hat or cap, sunscreen, and insect repellent are highly recommended.

* Bring cash (Mexican pesos) for lunch, beverages, souvenirs, and any personal purchases, as card payments may not be available in small towns.

* Please have breakfast before departure or bring a light snack, as lunch is served later in the day.

* Please let me know in advance if you have any food allergies, dietary restrictions, or mobility concerns.

* Traditional Oaxacan cuisine includes excellent vegetarian and vegan options.

* Toll fees, parking, entrance fees, and the mandatory local community guide at Hierve el Agua are included in the tour price.

* Meals, drinks, personal purchases, and optional gratuities are not included.

* Weather in the mountains can change quickly, so bringing a light jacket is recommended, especially during the cooler months.

* Respectful behavior toward local communities, their customs, and the natural environment is appreciated and helps support sustainable tourism.

-7:00 AM pickup is highly recommended to enjoy Hierve el Agua before the largest crowds arrive and to avoid the intense midday heat.

-As this is a private tour, the hike can be extended at no additional cost if you'd like to explore more scenic viewpoints and spend extra time enjoying the landscape.

-Saturdays and Sundays tend to be the busiest days at Hierve el Agua. If your schedule allows, Monday through Friday offers a quieter and more enjoyable experience. However, if the weekend is your only option, I'll ensure you make the most of your visit.

-The hike involves uneven terrain and a moderate level of physical activity. -Comfortable hiking or walking shoes are strongly recommended.

-Bring a swimsuit, towel, hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, and a refillable water bottle if you plan to swim in the natural pools.

-Having breakfast or a light snack before departure is recommended, as we'll arrive at the site early in the day.
