Olá! Hi! I’m Izzy! Thank you for stopping by! Hopefully Porto is next on your list! Originally from Lisbon, I moved to Porto in 1998 to study Biology. I even tried life in a research lab, but quickly realised that working with microscopes 24/7 meant missing something essential: people. And I’m definitely a people person. So I followed another passion - Fashion - which took me to Paris for a year to study Image, Communication and Protocol in Politics & Business. While working in this field, I was invited to organise and accompany private tours around Portugal. And just like that, I found my true calling! Although I divide my time between Porto and Lisbon, Porto is the city I chose as home (for more than half my life now). Its character, history, food, wine and beautifully complicated soul make it impossible not to fall in love. This is why my tours are not about memorised dates or scripted speeches. They are storytelling experiences: with a deep knowledge of Portuguese history and culture (and a family that lived on both sides of the dictatorship) I bring history to life through real stories, hidden layers, and the kind of insights you won’t find in guidebooks. You won’t hear historical myths repeated just because they sound good, or be dragged into tourist traps disguised as “must-sees”. And you definitely won’t get a superficial version of Porto. If you enjoy discovering the heart of a place - not just ticking boxes - then we’ll get along perfectly. I have guided in Gifu prefecture and Aichi prefecture. Gifu city has a beautiful river 'Nagara river' and Mt. Kinka which has Gifu castle on the top. (I am sorry, but Gifu Castle is currently closed for renovation.) At the foot of the mountain , there are many places to visit such as parks, a temple having a big image of Buddha, and a street preserving the historic atmosphere. At Gifu Castle Rakuichi, you can enjoy local food and shop for souvenirs unique to Gifu. Seki City is a small city but so famous for its cutlery. Seki City is the best place to buy high-quality knives. At Japanese sword museum in Seki, you can see authentic Japanese swords! This year, 2026, Seki City has Seki Cutlery Festival on October 10th and 11th. There are many exciting events, including a Japanese sword-forging demonstration(A reservation is required.) The huge cutlery sale is also something you won't want to miss! Mino City next to Seki City is well known for its hand made Japanese paper 'Hon Minoshi' designated as intangible cultural asset by UNESCO . You can try traditional paper making. Takayama and Shirakawago are perfect places for those who want to experience traditional Japan. Nagoya is a great place to experience both samurai culture and modern Japan. Nagoya's delicious local cuisine is another attraction. Gujo Hachiman is a charming mountain town with crystal-clear rivers and a peaceful atmosphere. Why not try Gujo Odori, one of Japan's most famous Bon dances, or experience making realistic food samples? I can create a tour tailored to your interests and preferences. But I have not paid attention to the fact that the city was an old capital of Japan. There was a small old temple near my house and I used it as nothing more than a good place to play "hide and seek" then. Now, I got old and developed an interest in the history and culture of Kyoto and Nara, having learned more about it through English National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter Test, UNESCO World Heritage Academy and Cultural Examination, Kyoto Tourism Examination, Nara Sommelier Examination and etc. Spending a couple of years, I have successfully passed all these examinations. My hobby is visiting old ruins in the world so that I have been to Vesa Merde in the States, Macchu Picchu in Peru, Easter Island in Chile, Volbilis in Morocco, Tikal in Guatemala, Angkor Wat in Cambodia and etc. When I go to unknown places, I normally hire a local guide.
