Basic concept of this tour is to cover the key sites of Tokyo . You will see both the old and new faces of Metropolitan Tokyo altogether. This tour is based on public transportation, so it will involve some walkings but I will adjust the amount of walking depending on your condition and feelings. Full Day Nikko Key Sites #1 (11 Hours)
In Japan, there is a saying (pun) that goes "Don't say Kekko until you see Nikko", which means "Don't say you are fully satisfied until you see Nikko". The great representation of Nikko is the combination of unparelled Cultural World Heritage Site of Toshogu Shrine and pure beauty of nature at Kegon Falls and Lake Chuzenji. This tour covers all of those key sites with my professional explanation of history and culture behind those heritages. Let's discover beauty of Nikko and exclaim "Kekko!!"

Full Day Tokyo Key Sites #3 (8 Hours)
This tour has been designed for the guests who have already experienced my Full Day Tokyo Key Sites #1 and #2, and/or for those who are interested in some unique sites that are not covered by my Tokyo Key Sites #1 and #2. If you need to use a wheel chair, I would be more than happy to modify my tour. If you prefer, you can book a private car or mini van for easier logistics and mobility.

Full Day Kamakura Key Sites #1 (11 Hours)
In the eastern Japan, Kamakura is one of the best (if not THE BEST) places to witness the deapths of Japanese history. While Kyoto is a capital established by aristocrats, Kamakura is a capital built and nurtured by samurai worrior class. Its culture is simple and dynamic. My guiding point is History, Culture, Natural Beauty and Zen spirit, not to mention authentic Japanese food of your preference (or choice in any ways)!! I would like you to see the unique historical sites of over 800 years.

“Amazing, truly personalized custom private tour!”
Tsutomu san exceeded every expectation! He was extraordinarily thoughtful, detailed, and flexible with out family which included ages 3-74. His thoughtfulness included taking pictures of our family at every stop and collate them to match a numbered/alphabetized map of the Tokyo metro so that we can match each picture with each stop, walking hand in hand with my 3yr old, and adjusting our tour to perfectly match our pace and preferences on the spot. Truly made our first day in Tokyo amazing and so special!!! Mahalo Tsutomu san! We look forward to our second tour with you!!

Today’s tour was not “work” for me. I can define it as “family activity”. When you do something for your family, you are truly motivated to do your best. You don’t need to “think” when you do something for your family. When you do something for your family, the last thing you wish to do is disappointing them. You naturally and unconsciously perform your best. I really appreciate you for motivating me to do my best, which came so naturally in me as soon as we started this morning. You are the very reason why I love the job of tour guiding. If you need any support while you are in Hokkaido, please do not put up with any inconveniences - you are here to enjoy yourselves. Please call me so I can try to help you. I hope the jet lag will be gone soon - enjoy!!!

“Outstanding Guide”
My wife and I toured four days with Tom. I highly recommend him as your private tour guide. He customized each day to our priorities and was knowledgeable about each site visited. He was thoughtful and communicated effectively both in planning and while on tours. We felt comfortable and safe at all times. Definitely exceeded our expectations.

Stephen and Sherri from Tom, I really appreciate the wonderful time you so kindly allowed me to spend with you. I also thank GoWithGuide for presenting me with such a wonderful opportunity. While it was an important work for me, it has turned out to be more like a quality time I truly enjoy being with such nice people. I feel that I truly enjoyed working for you during those 4 days. If my service was good, it’s a pure reflection of how nice of people you are. Meeting with nice people is the greatest joy in doing the tour guide. I want to thank you once again for making me happy. I will think about you a lot and I hope we will meet again!! Sincerely, Tsutomu “Tom” Harada

“Great guide makes for a great day”
Due to an injury to our original guide, Tsutomu (Tom) was his replacement and what a replacement, excellent in every aspect. Communication, English, knowledge, pace of tour, notably the transport system were superb.

I do appreciate your kindness that comes from warm heart. Initially the day had started as “work” but shortly after, I found myself truly enjoying the day. The greatest joy of a tour guide is meeting with nice people and you made my day. If my service was good, it is totally because of your character and considerations. I thank you once again for being with my guests, which has become my unforgettable memory. With all my very best. Tom

KONNICHIWA! I am Rene. I studied commerce and marketing at university and have already graduated. I also studied abroad in France, where I was deeply inspired by the positivity and openness of people from different cultures. Through that experience, I discovered the joy of connecting with others beyond language and cultural barriers. Now, as a guide in Japan, I hope to share the authentic beauty and warmth of this country with visitors from around the world, while supporting and inspiring them during their journey!!!

I’m so excited to have a chance to show you around my favorite spots in Kanagawa prefecture. I was born in Kanagawa. I spent my whole school life, including university, here in Kanagawa. I worked as a high school English teacher here for more than 40 years. I love Kanagawa so much. We have many interesting tourist spots, like Hakone, Kamakura, Enoshima and Yokohama. I got my tour guide license in English in 2009. I am still an English teacher. To give an interesting and impressive lesson to young high school students, I’ve learnt and gathered many kinds of information. I also have a license to teach social studies, so I have a wide range of knowledge about Japanese culture and history. I’m sure to provide you an interesting tour.

Grant A.
Hello! My name is Grant, and I’ve spent over a decade living and exploring Japan. Originally from Omaha, Nebraska, I first came to Japan as a high school exchange student in Inuyama, a historic castle town in Aichi. My love for Japan began early—sparked by childhood games like Pokémon that were released in Japanese before English. That early curiosity grew into a lifelong passion for Japanese language, culture, and history. I hold an N2 on the Japanese Language Proficiency Test, a degree in Asian Studies from a Tokyo university, and I graduated from the Japan Visual Media Translation Academy. I’ve visited all 47 prefectures and explored a wide range of historical sites, shrines, and castles throughout the country. My background in Japanese history helps me provide context that brings depth and meaning to the places we visit—whether it's understanding a centuries-old temple in Kyoto, the story behind a castle ruin, or uncovering the historical layers of a Tokyo neighborhood. If you’re planning to explore Tokyo, here are some tour options to consider: One day in Tokyo? The Ginza Line Tour offers a great introduction to the city’s highlights. Two days? Pair the East Tokyo Tour and West Tokyo Tour to get a well-rounded experience. Interested in anime? The Anime Tour is flexible and can be tailored to match your specific interests. For those looking to go beyond the city, I also offer day trips to Nikko, Kamakura, and other nearby destinations. While most guests book Tokyo-based tours, I also guide in other regions—especially Kyoto, where I’ve visited every World Heritage Site. I regularly lead tours in Osaka, Nara, Nagoya, Hikone, and other locations easily reached by rail. Multi-day and custom tours are available on request. Full-Day Tour: 40,000 yen (8 hours) Full-Day Tour Outside of Tokyo: 40,000 yen + transportation Feel free to get in touch to plan a tour that fits your interests and travel plans.
