“Let them hit you in a way that you will enjoy”
It was very interesting and fun evening, even though a little exhausting (who would guess :) ). I had no prior experience, but they were a very understanding and helpful. After some basics I join regular members in training (where they let me hit them in practice), after small break there were sparring matches (where they hit me instead, I had no chance :D ). If you are interested in kendo or these arts as whole, it's definitely worth your money and time.
“My favorite part of my Japan experience!”
This was my absolute favorite part of my Japan trip! It wasn't a "tourist attraction" it was a genuine lesson by a true master. There was one other foreigner besides myself & we both agreed that it was such a unique experience. Even with the communication barrier I found it easy to follow along & found it very engaging. I will say I am fairly fit & my calves were certainly sore after the lesson, so be sure you plan a bit of a break afterwards. The location is a touch tricky to locate, but look out for a vending machine with Kendo logos on it! I recommend adding this to your Japan plans immediately!
“Kendo challenge ”
Definitely recommend this as one of the things to do when in Tokyo. No regrets, just a life time memory. Was glad I did this, showed an appreciation of an art hopefully to carry on for generations.
