About Tour Guide Haru G.
Thank you for considering me as your guide! I am excited to become not just your guide, but your friend as we explore Kanazawa together—a city where rich cultural traditions seamlessly blend with modern vibrancy.
Being a native of Ishikawa Prefecture, with Kanazawa as its heart, I have a deep connection to this place. Though I spent several years living in New York, I’ve always carried the spirit of Japan with me. Upon returning to Japan, I immersed myself in the travel industry, gaining over a decade of experience and obtaining my guiding license in 2017 while working for successful inbound travel agencies.
My time abroad has given me a profound appreciation for Japan’s uniqueness, and my passion for sharing its beauty and culture with travelers has only grown stronger. Now, I am eager to share that enthusiasm with you as we explore Japan together, uncovering hidden gems and experiencing its timeless charm.
Important
Even if my calendar shows as unavailable, I may still be able to accommodate half-day or evening tours. Please feel free to reach out with an inquiry anytime.
I can also provide guiding services outside Kanazawa upon request.

“Japan Trip with Granddaughter”
Hanu met us at our hotel in Kanazawa and was waiting in the lobby at the agreed upon meeting time. We had a great time exploring Kanazawa over the next 4 hours as we visited the Geisha District and Samurai District, and explored the local market. Hanu was very flexible with adjusting her planned tour as we had already explored the Kanazawa Castle on our own the day before our tour. I would highly recommend Hanu for you next visit to the Kanazawa area.

“A Memorable Family Tour of Kanazawa”
We had a wonderful time exploring Kanazawa with Haru. The tour started right on time, and we used local transportation to cover longer distances while enjoying plenty of walking through the city. We visited Kanazawa's beautiful gardens, the castle, and the historic geisha and samurai districts. Haru's deep knowledge of the city and engaging storytelling kept everyone interested throughout the day. The highlight of our tour was an incredible sushi lunch at a local izakaya. It was, without a doubt, the best sushi we've ever had. We highly recommend Haru to anyone looking for an authentic, informative, and memorable experience in Kanazawa.

“Fun Day in Kanazawa”
Setting up our tour with Haru was super easy - her communications beforehand were timely and helpful. She arrived early for our tour (at our hotel) and was a great host for the whole day. We followed a busy itinerary (see her listing for details) and walked the whole way - although she did check we were OK with that (and we could have used transport if needed). The gardens, castle, historical sites and town were all very interesting and she was very knowledgable about them all. Overall, she was a great host and we thoroughly enjoyed our day - thank you Haru!

Naoto K.
Hello! I’m Naoto. I was born and raised in the dramatic landscape of Toyama, with Kanazawa as my favorite weekend playground since my young-hood. I am thrilled that you are considering the Hokuriku region for your Japanese journey. After living abroad and spending decades in Tokyo area, I returned to my roots with a clear mission: to share the authentic, soulful Japan that remains tucked away from the crowds. In Toyama and Kanazawa, you won’t just see history—you will feel it. This is a region of "hidden gems," where ancient traditions and pristine nature coexist in their purest form. I specialize in taking you where the tour buses don’t go. Whether we are: Unlocking Samurai Legacies: Exploring the hidden corridors of Kanazawa’s history and the delicate mastery of its gold-leaf artisans. Savoring the Secret Harvest: Dining at secluded mountain retreats or tasting the "jewels of the sea" fresh from Toyama Bay. Immersive Nature & Tradition: From the dramatic peaks of the Northern Alps to the quiet craftsmanship of woodcarving villages and local festivals. Pop Culture & Local Legends: Diving into the world of manga, anime, and folklore known only to those who live here. Because of my years overseas, I understand the curiosity and the "why" behind an international traveler's questions. I don’t just show you the sights; I translate the culture, bridging the gap between a visitor and a local. Every itinerary is 100% customized to your pace, your interests, and your sense of adventure. Let’s step off the beaten path together. Reach out today, and let’s start planning your one-of-a-kind Japanese adventure! Criselda C.
Hello! My name is Criselda, but friends and family often call me Selda. Welcome to my page and I'm glad you're interested in knowing about the wonderful city of Kanazawa with me. I am originally from the Philippines and I've been living and working in the Hokuriku region for almost 7 years. I definitely consider Kanazawa as my home in Japan. Kanazawa is known for many things including gold leaf, a rich samurai history, its beautiful gardens, delicious seafood, and historic Geiko (Geisha) culture. I would love to introduce these things and so much more! Did you know Kanazawa is also home to the oldest sake brewery in the region? What about the local ceramics and laquerware? You can also participate in different workshops like traditional Japanese sweets-making class, gold leaf pasting, Kaga-yuzen (local kimono brand) painting, and sushi-making using local ingredients. There are many beautiful known spots and a lot of hidden gems in the area and I can't wait to introduce them to you. One of my hobbies is photography and I will surely capture your moments in the city to make your stay extra memorable. I'm excited to meet you in the Golden City, Kanazawa.

Shoten S.
Hello, my name is Shoten, please call me Sho. I was born in a local area in Toyama prefecture. I majored in civil engineering at a college and am interested in historical infrastructures. After graduation, I continued to study English at a local English circle. In international activities, I also guided foreign people around Toyama Prefecture, Ishikawa Prefecture, and Gifu Prefecture. After retirement, I work as a guide interpreter and a translator. The Hokuriku region has many sightseeing spots, including beautiful landscapes like Kenrokuen Garden and Tateyama, tasty food like traditional Kaga dishes and fresh seafood from Toyama Bay, and traditional crafts like Takaoka copperware and Inami woodcarving. I introduce these spots and historical infra tourism, such as the Kurobe dam and industrial tourism. I look forward to welcoming you to the Hokuriku region.
