Hello, everyone! I'm Lucy, and I'm thrilled to share a bit about myself with you. Originally hailing from the picturesque south of France, my life's journey has woven through the landscapes of both France and Germany, primarily within the realm of fashion and costume design. My heart, however, found its home in the enchanting city of Kanazawa when my husband's career led us here in 2019. Since then, this city has not only become my adopted home, but it's a place I've grown to adore. Now, guiding has become a source of immense joy for me. I cherish the opportunity to meet people from all corners of the world, sharing my knowledge about this incredible city and its cultural tapestry. Beyond the guided tours, my free time is often spent in exploration. Whether uncovering hidden gems in the surroundings or immersing myself in the world of pottery, crafts or hiking. I'm here not just to guide but also to connect, learn, and share the beauty I've discovered in Kanazawa. Looking forward to our journeys together!

Hi! I'm Yukari. I'm a government licensed guide of Kanazawa city.(Kanazawa Visitor's Host) I was originally born and raised in Toyama prefecture. I had moved 2 times within Hokuriku region in my childhood for my fathers job. I've been living in Ishikawa for 16 years in total.(4years in my childhood and 12years since I married. ) I have a family of 4. I'm raising 2boys and have 2dogs. I love animals, nature, music, photos, camping, and good food. So if you feel that I might have a similar taste with you, my tour will bring you a satisfied explore. Here in Kanazawa, tourists have been increasing in number since the opening of Hokuriku Shinkansen in 2015. Many of foreign tourists are walking around throughout the city holding their smartphone by hand. Every time I see those people, I felt that I might be able to do something which make their trip more memorable. This is the reason why I took the license of Kanazawa Visitor's Host and started a local tour guide. Although I've just started as a tour guide in 2018,I sincerely enjoy making a personalized plan that every single guest would be able to make the day here in Kanazawa perfectly. I have ever lived in Toyama, Fukui, Ishikawa, Chiba, Tokyo (Japan),and Toronto (Canada). I have ever been to USA (Seattle, LA, CA, NY) Australia (Cairns) New Zealand(Auckland) Korea, China, and Canada (many cities). Let's go for Kanazawa tour just for you! Originally born in Mexico City, where I spent the first eight years of my life, I grew up in Montreal, Canada, for 22 years. Fascinated by Japanese popular culture and history—I have a minor in Japanese history and am a history buff—I participated in the JET Program Canada, where I was placed in Shirakawa-go for three years as an ALT. Currently, I live in Kanazawa with my Japanese wife and son. As a tour guide in Kanazawa, I specialize in history, hidden gems, culture, shopping (especially Japanese popular culture products), and food. I strive to provide an excellent customer experience. Fluent in English (Native), French (Native), Spanish (Native), and a good grasping of Japanese. I can communicate effectively with a diverse range of guests. During the Edo period ( for about 270 years), Kanazawa flourished as a castle town of the Kaga Clan. The lord Maedas , the second biggest lord after the Tokugawa Shogunate Edo central government, ruled the kaga domain for almost 280 years. Many traditional arts and crafts were developed by the support of the Maedas. Many historic sites , traditional arts and crafts remain in the town. Kanazawa is a gastronomic city, too. Various fresh fishes are landed from the Sea of Japan, and various vegetables are produced locally. Shinkansen bullet trains linked Kanazawa to Tokyo directly on March 14, 2015. It takes about 2 and a half hours. Visitors can make a day tour to Kanazawa from Tokyo.

Day Trips from Kanazawa

Kanazawa Tour Reviews

Great Day with Yoji in Kanazawa

We were guided by Yoji today. Our first stop was Kenrokuen Garden and Castle. It was lovely garden - one of the most beautiful we have ever seen. A special highlight was seeing an eagle/kite bathing in a stream. It was a very special moment, and Yoji said he had never seen it before. The castle was very beautiful. After the garden and castle, we visited the samurai district, had lunch, and then visited the geisha district. Everything was serene, not crowded, and quite a change from what we have seen in the more populous Tokyo, Osaka, etc. We can highly recommend Kanazawa. We can especially recommend Yoji, who was knowledgeable, active, and kind. He organised the tour such that we were able to complete the tour despite the terrible heat. Thank you Yoji! We appreciate everything you did for us!

Guy B.

Thank you very much for your great review and comment on me. It was a wonderful time walking with both of you. Yes, it was terrible heat and humidity on that day. However, I had a great time talking with you in our conversation. Please stay in touch. I hope you enjoy the rest of your trip till the end. Take good care of yourself from this heat! See you soon.

Yuji is perfect!

The day was perfect because Yoji is an extraordinary guide. He knows so much about Kanazawa - what to see, its history and culture; would recommend to anyone & everyone.

Xavier C.

Thank you very much for your great comment and review on me. It was great time spending with your family and you. You all appreciate how beautiful and great Japan and Japanese culture is. You made me realize a lot of things to me. Have a wonderful time in the rest of your journey. Best regards, Yoji

Raphael, wonderful guide through Kanazawa, thanks so much!

We really enjoyed our walk with Raphael. English perfect, knowledge about Kanazawa and Japanese culture also great. He has been living here already for many year with his wife and two kids. He is entertaining, flexible and knows where to go. Absolutely worth your while if you are here for a short stay. We requested a private tour for our family, learning about geisha's and samurai. Highly recommended!

Maria S.

Maria, thank you very much for taking the time and writing such a lovely message. It was an absolute pleasure showing you and your family around. I hope you get to enjoy the rest of your journey! Keep smiling, keep laughing. You guys absolutely made my day. :) All the very best to your lovely family!
