Hi! I'm Yukari. I'm a government licensed guide of Kanazawa city.(Kanazawa Visitor's Host) I was originally born and raised in Toyama prefecture. I had moved 2 times within Hokuriku region in my childhood for my fathers job. I've been living in Ishikawa for 16 years in total.(4years in my childhood and 12years since I married. ) I have a family of 4. I'm raising 2boys and have 2dogs. I love animals, nature, music, photos, camping, and good food. So if you feel that I might have a similar taste with you, my tour will bring you a satisfied explore. Here in Kanazawa, tourists have been increasing in number since the opening of Hokuriku Shinkansen in 2015. Many of foreign tourists are walking around throughout the city holding their smartphone by hand. Every time I see those people, I felt that I might be able to do something which make their trip more memorable. This is the reason why I took the license of Kanazawa Visitor's Host and started a local tour guide. Although I've just started as a tour guide in 2018,I sincerely enjoy making a personalized plan that every single guest would be able to make the day here in Kanazawa perfectly. I have ever lived in Toyama, Fukui, Ishikawa, Chiba, Tokyo (Japan),and Toronto (Canada). I have ever been to USA (Seattle, LA, CA, NY) Australia (Cairns) New Zealand(Auckland) Korea, China, and Canada (many cities). Let's go for Kanazawa tour just for you! Hello, everyone! I'm Lucy, and I'm thrilled to share a bit about myself with you. Originally hailing from the picturesque south of France, my life's journey has woven through the landscapes of both France and Germany, primarily within the realm of fashion and costume design. My heart, however, found its home in the enchanting city of Kanazawa when my husband's career led us here in 2019. Since then, this city has not only become my adopted home, but it's a place I've grown to adore. Now, guiding has become a source of immense joy for me. I cherish the opportunity to meet people from all corners of the world, sharing my knowledge about this incredible city and its cultural tapestry. Beyond the guided tours, my free time is often spent in exploration. Whether uncovering hidden gems in the surroundings or immersing myself in the world of pottery, crafts or hiking. I'm here not just to guide but also to connect, learn, and share the beauty I've discovered in Kanazawa. Looking forward to our journeys together!

Kanazawa

During the Edo period ( for about 270 years), Kanazawa flourished as a castle town of the Kaga Clan. The lord Maedas , the second biggest lord after the Tokugawa Shogunate Edo central government, ruled the kaga domain for almost 280 years. Many traditional arts and crafts were developed by the support of the Maedas. Many historic sites , traditional arts and crafts remain in the town. Kanazawa is a gastronomic city, too. Various fresh fishes are landed from the Sea of Japan, and various vegetables are produced locally. Shinkansen bullet trains linked Kanazawa to Tokyo directly on March 14, 2015. It takes about 2 and a half hours. Visitors can make a day tour to Kanazawa from Tokyo.

Excellent Kanazawa 101 tour

My husband and I had a wonderful time with Lucy this morning. Since she is from Europe, her tour is perfectly aligned with our (US) perspective and interests, and she speaks perfect English! Also she is super friendly and has a great knowledge of Kanazawa and Japanese history and culture. We learned so much from her while are not overwhelmed by too much information that could happen for a scholastic tour guide. So we highly recommend her if you are interested in Kanazawa 101 tour!

Debra C.

Thank you Debra for your kind review. It was a pleasure to spend the morning with you and your husband and I wish you a wonderful time in Kanazawa and Japan. All the best, Lucy
