Hello, my name is Mana. I am a National Licensed Tour Guide in English. I was born and raised in Kyoto. I worked for the Kyoto Prefectural Police Headquarters after I graduated from university.
I know lots about Kyoto's cultures and festivals . I am good at walking. After I got married, I have been in Shiga for over 30 years. I work for at high school as a part time teacher. I am flexible in Kyoto and Shiga. I am practicing ”Rakugo”a traditional Japanese comedic storytelling art, to make my tours more enjoyable and filled with laughter. Let’s laugh together during my tours!
All tours can be customized for you. Send me a message with your requests!
“Excellent and caring guide for Kyoto”
Mana was very knowledgeable and had the best attitude during our tour. She not only told us about the sites we saw, but also about Japanese culture and history, as well as some of her personal stories. She would also crack the occasional joke when appropriate. Would definitely recommend her and hire her services again if we ever come back!

Dear Sebastian, Thank you so much for sending a high-rated review right after our tour ended. I was still on the train heading home, but your kind words instantly wiped away my fatigue. On Valentine's Day, I received a gift even more wonderful than chocolate—a heartfelt review from a lovely newlywed couple. It truly made my day! Thank you for choosing Japan and choosing me from so far away. Wishing you a safe journey home! Mana
“Very accommodating guide”
Mana was very accommodating to our family of 4 for a tour of Kyoto. She definitely grew up up in the city & we appreciate her stories and even some Japanese lessons. I will say her English is a bit more broken up than we expected but we appreciated her hospitality and flexibility with our family.

Dear Cindy, How is your husband’s foot doing? December 28th is generally considered the last working day of the year, and I was fortunate to conclude my final work day of 2024 with a very polite and wonderful family. In the morning on New Year’s Day, the most important holiday for Japanese people, receiving your high-scoring review brought me such a refreshing and joyful feeling. It was as if I were a child receiving a special New Year’s gift (Otoshidama). During the New Year, we exchange greeting cards that are postcards called Nengajo, and I would like to include my wish that 2025 will be a wonderful year for you and your family. Thank you very much for giving me a high score review despite my clumsy English. I will continue to work hard and keep studying without using aging as an excuse. Mana

“nice 6 hour tour of kyoto”
mana was very efficient, child friendly and came prepared with child-friendly drawings to keep our 8 and 13 yo engaged throughout the 6 hour tour. we had 4 specific sites we wanted to visit and she was very amenable to customizing/planning for us. if you are the type who wants to stop/read every sign at a temple/shrine, just ask/request and i'm sure mana will slow her tour down. if you're the one who wants to speed/fast-forward like we did, she is the one for you also.

Dear Kenny. In the morning on New Year’s Day, the most important holiday for Japanese people, receiving your high-scoring review brought me such a refreshing and joyful feeling. During the New Year, we exchange greeting cards called Nengajo, and I would like to include my wish that 2025 will be a wonderful year for you and your family. Although it was a cold day, I will never forget the lovely family I met on Christmas Eve. Thank you very much.
