About Tour Guide Mana F.
Hi my name is Mana. I'm a National Licensed Tour Guide in English. I was born and raised in Kyoto. I worked for the Kyoto Prefectural Police Headquarters after I graduated from university.
I know lots about Kyoto's cultures and festivals . After I got married, I have been in Shiga for over 30 years. I work for at high school as a part time teacher. I am flexible in Kyoto and Shiga. I am practicing ”Rakugo”a traditional Japanese comedic storytelling art, to make my tours more enjoyable and filled with laughter. Let’s laugh together during my tours! The fun, hand-drawn illustrations I use on my tours are also very popular—most of my guests take photos of them.

Mana is a wonderful guide. She managed to cover everything on our wish list plus added in things we didn’t know we wanted to see but enjoyed greatly. She is hardworking, thoughtful and so capable. We highly recommend her!

Dear Janet Thank you so much for sending me not just one, but two five-star reviews! I’m especially happy because they help raise my average score (haha). Since you complimented on the illustrations I drew for my tours, I actually started attending a manga art class in Osaka to improve my skills—and I even started working on some new pieces. As for storytelling, I practice ” Rakugo,” because I truly love the saying “Laughter brings good fortune.” I hope that next year will be filled with smiles and happiness all around you! Mana

“Magical first day in Kyoto ”
Mana is wonderful! We loved our day with her - an incredible visit to Fushimi, and Uji - it was a gorgeous fall day, and Mana offered the perfect blend of stories, history, with her warmth and gift of knowing when to just let us take in the wonders. Mana is a gifted teacher & we enjoyed playfully learning counting to 10 in Japanese! She surprised us with a tour of the Sake museum - a delight! We loved taking in the delights of Uji, with Mana’s humor, knowledge, and love of the area. She generously gave us more time than planned - We would have enjoyed another full day with Mana, and when we return, we will hope to tour with her on another magical day. Thank you, Mana!

Dear Catherine, My day with you in my hometown felt just as magical for me as it was for you, as you stated in your review. Thanks to that magic, we were able to meet again in Arashiyama three days later, and I was so happy that you remembered my name. The couple I was guiding at that moment were also lovely guests from Boston—perhaps that was another piece of magic as well? I can easily picture the two of you happily enjoying sake together. In Japan, we say “Sake is the best of all medicines.” May you always stay healthy and continue to enjoy good sake! Thank you very much Mana
