About Tour Guide Mana F.
Hi my name is Mana. I'm a National Licensed Tour Guide in English. I was born and raised in Kyoto. I worked for the Kyoto Prefectural Police Headquarters after I graduated from university.
I know lots about Kyoto's cultures and festivals . After I got married, I have been in Shiga for over 30 years. I work for at high school as a part time teacher. I am flexible in Kyoto and Shiga. I am practicing ”Rakugo”a traditional Japanese comedic storytelling art, to make my tours more enjoyable and filled with laughter. Let’s laugh together during my tours! The fun, hand-drawn illustrations I use on my tours are also very popular—most of my guests take photos of them.

“Kyoto Tour”
Mana was very well prepared with materials to help make the whole experience complete. She had many insights and stories about the places we visited. She tailored her tour to what we said we definitely wanted to see and then added other areas of interest. She was very knowledgeable, warm and professional.Touring Kyoto with her really made you feel like you were getting the true local view.I definitely recommend her tour.

Dear Yvonne, I was very happy to receive your wonderful review. At the last temple we visited, new rules were introduced for safety reasons. As a result, they were not very friendly to elderly visitors, and I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused to your mother. Bamboo is a symbol of longevity and flexibility, so I was disappointed by the temple’s lack of flexibility in this situation. Nevertheless, I hope this experience will not discourage you from coming back.. Please stay healthy and come visit Japan again to enjoy its beautiful scenery and bamboo. Thank you Mana

Mana was organized, friendly, funny, insightful, super efficient and all around excellent guide through Kyoto. Tailored tour well and accommodated changes. Felt like we saw so much in such an efficient manner. Great commentary, visual printouts, fun tips on Japanese language and culture as well as excellent direction. Wish we booked her for more tours in Kyoto.

Dear Pavanti, Thank you very much for your wonderful review. The weather was nice and it was relatively uncrowded, so by using taxis frequently, we were able to visit many places efficiently. However, there are still many more spots I would have loved to show you. Please come back to Kyoto as many times as you like—I will be looking forward to seeing you again! Mana

“Some highlights of Kyoto with Mana san ”
We had a terrific day in Kyoto with our guide Mana. We started at The Golden Pavilion, then the Bamboo Forest, The Nijo Jo Castle and the Shibori Kimono Museum. Mana is an excellent guide. Her English is very good as is her knowledge of Kyoto and it's history. She was very well prepared, even using her own hand drawn maps and teaching aids - we can now count in Japanese! Would highly recommend if you are visiting Kyoto!

Dear David, Thank you very much for sending such a wonderful review. It is truly my passion—and my greatest joy—to guide guests like you who show a sincere interest in Japanese culture. I sincerely wish you a safe and amazing journey throughout the rest of your time in Japan. And since your coin landed inside the circle of frogs, it means you’ll return home safely! “Kaeru” means both “frog” and “to return,” so it’s a lucky sign for a safe journey home. Mana

Hello! I am Kanae, a nationally licensed guide. While working full-time as a lecturer at a local university in Kyoto, I have also been guiding for two years. Born and raised in Kyoto, I am excited to share the beauty and culture of my hometown with my customers. Kyoto is an enchanting city, and even as a local, I am continually fascinated by its many charming spots. Whether it's the serene temples, vibrant markets, or hidden gems, there is always something new to explore and appreciate in this wonderful city. Also, since my home is close to Shiga Prefecture, I am very familiar with the area. While Shiga may not be as popular as Kyoto, it offers a wealth of attractions for tourists. From historical sites such as temples and shrines to the stunning natural beauty of Lake Biwa, the largest lake in Japan, there is much to see and do. I am passionate about promoting Shiga and sharing its unique charm with visitors.
