About Tour Guide Mana F.
Hi my name is Mana. I'm a National Licensed Tour Guide in English. I was born and raised in Kyoto. I worked for the Kyoto Prefectural Police Headquarters after I graduated from university.
I know lots about Kyoto's cultures and festivals . After I got married, I have been in Shiga for over 30 years. I work for at high school as a part time teacher. I am flexible in Kyoto and Shiga. I am practicing ”Rakugo”a traditional Japanese comedic storytelling art, to make my tours more enjoyable and filled with laughter. Let’s laugh together during my tours! The fun, hand-drawn illustrations I use on my tours are also very popular—most of my guests take photos of them.

“Fantastic tour of Best Sights in NW Kyoto ”
We had an excellent tour with Mana!!! I highly recommend her. She had great communication to create a custom tour for us. She arrived early at our hotel lobby. She spoke excellent English (loudly and clearly for everyone to hear). She was very kind and friendly. She was very informative about the many sights we visited and came prepared with printouts and pictures. You can definitely tell Mana was a teacher for many years. Her printouts made learning fun and easy to connect with. She took great photos of our family. She took us to many beautiful temples and the Arashiyama area. She had a bonus sight for us at the end to learn about Shibori. She was very knowledgeable getting around the trains and buses. It made our day a breeze. We really enjoyed our day and Mana made it very special. Thank you.

Dear Michelle, Thank you very much for sending such a wonderful review so quickly. Because the weather is often unpredictable at this time of year, I normally do not accept many full-day tours during this season. However, thanks to you, yesterday turned out to be a truly wonderful experience for me as well. The crowds were astonishingly light—probably less than one-third of the usual number of visitors. Everything felt surprisingly peaceful and relaxed. Most importantly, we were able to enjoy beautiful flowers in shades of blue, such as hydrangeas and gentians, as well as lovely lotus blossoms. They offered a completely different kind of beauty from the pink cherry blossoms of spring or the red and yellow autumn leaves. And perhaps the best bonus of all was seeing the newborn baby monkeys! In Japan, when we are blessed with good weather and good fortune, we often say, “It is thanks to your daily good deeds and efforts.” So I would like to say the same to you. Thank you, thank you very much! I truly appreciate it. Mana

Dear Jose, Thank you very much for your wonderful review, even though Kyoto’s unique hot and humid weather meant we could not finish the tour to the end. Kyoto, known as the thousand-year capital, has inherited many traditional and unique cultural customs. Bamboo is considered a symbol of long life in Japan. Next time, I hope you can visit Japan — the country of longevity — during a more comfortable season. I wish you both good health and happiness for many years to come. Thank you Mana

“Learning Deep Rich Kyoto History with Mana”
Mana was a great tour guide. She led us to all the places we wanted to visit and even taught us some Japanese along the way. She was very knowledgeable about all the places we went to and explained all the history behind the landmarks we faced. She does walk pretty fast for a senior haha so it was a little hard to keep up, but she was always accommodating to us when it came to breaks when we asked. Anyone wanting to learn the real about Kyoto, I highly recommend Mana.

Dear Andre Thank you very much for sending me your review. It was a very hot and humid day, and some people were not feeling well, so it was quite challenging, but I’m very glad that I was able to guide both of you until the end of the tour. Has everyone recovered since then? I sincerely hope that all of you will stay healthy and continue enjoying wonderful trips together in the future! Even when you’re young, you shouldn’t be overconfident about your health! haha Thank you Mana
