Hello, my name is Maki. I’m a licensed English-speaking tour guide based in Nagoya.

Discover Nagoya through the eyes of someone who understands both Japan and what it feels like to be an outsider.

Having lived in Poland, I know what it feels like to enter a new culture and want to understand not only what you see, but also the stories, values, and ideas behind it.

That is what I love about guiding.

In my tours, I connect Nagoya’s history with the Japan you can see today. We might explore the legacy of the samurai and the Tokugawa family, discover traditional craftsmanship, visit historic sites and shrines, or talk about how Nagoya’s culture of precision and discipline connects to modern industry and Toyota.

I also love introducing the everyday side of Nagoya — from local food traditions such as miso and sake to places and stories that you might otherwise miss.

My tours are not simply about visiting famous sights. I want you to understand why Nagoya became the city it is today, and how the history and mindset of the past still shape Japan today.
