Meeting Point

Your hotel in Moshi or Kilimanjaro

- 2 days before the tour, I will contact you to confirm your accommodation and arrange pickup. Guests staying in Moshi Urban will be picked up directly from their hotel and returned to the same location after the hike. If staying outside Moshi, please share your location in advance so we can confirm pickup or arrange a convenient meeting point.

Moshi - Marangu gate

Depart from your hotel in Moshi and enjoy a scenic drive to Marangu Gate, the starting point of your Kilimanjaro hike. The journey takes approximately 1 hour, depending on traffic and your exact hotel location.

Marangu gate: Kilimanjaro National Park

Arive at Marangu after about 1 hour drive (45kms)

- Park Registration & Hike Begins

Complete registration and start hiking through the beautiful Kilimanjaro rainforest.

Mandara Hut

Arrive at Mandara Hut at 2,700m and enjoy a well-deserved lunch and time to rest. Afterwards, take a short hike to Maundi Crater for beautiful panoramic views from the edge of the forest and into the moorland zone. On a clear day, you can enjoy views of Kibo, the summit of Kilimanjaro, as well as Lower Moshi and distant Lake Chala on the southern slopes. Take time to enjoy the scenery before returning to Mandara Hut and beginning the descent.

Marangu gate - Moshi

After enjoying Mandara Hut and Maundi Crater, descend through the rainforest back to Marangu Gate. Once you arrive at the gate, complete the park exit formalities before meeting your driver for the return transfer to your hotel or agreed drop-off point in Moshi.

Tour Important Information

* This is a full-day hiking experience involving approximately 6 - 8 hours of walking, including the ascent and descent.

* The trail includes uneven, rocky and sometimes muddy sections, so good hiking shoes are recommended.

* The hike reaches Mandara Hut at approximately 2,700m above sea level.

* Bring comfortable hiking clothing, a waterproof jacket, sun protection, a hat and a small daypack.

* Carry sufficient drinking water for the hike; additional water will be provided as arranged for the tour.

* Lunch is included. Please inform me in advance of any food allergies or dietary restrictions.

* Weather on Kilimanjaro can change quickly. Bring a warm layer and rain protection even if the weather in Moshi is sunny.

* Maundi Crater is an optional short hike after lunch, depending on weather, time and your energy level.

* On clear days, views may include Kibo/Kilimanjaro, Lower Moshi and distant Lake Chala.

* This tour is not recommended for guests with serious mobility, severe back or knee problems, or conditions that may make hiking difficult.

* Children should be accompanied by a responsible adult.

* Please follow your guide’s instructions throughout the hike for your safety and enjoyment.

* Pickup from hotels in Moshi Urban is arranged in advance. Guests staying outside Moshi should provide their location before the tour so pickup or a suitable meeting point can be confirmed.
