Hotel Pick-Up (in Hanoi)
- Your journey begins as me and driver pick you up from your hotel in Hanoi. We’ll set off on a scenic 2-hour drive (approximately 100 km) to Ninh Binh Province, known as “Halong Bay on land” for its dramatic limestone karst landscapes.
Explore Hoa Lu Ancient Capital & Tomb of Emperors
Upon arrival, we visit the historic site of Hoa Lu, the ancient capital of Vietnam during the Dinh and Le dynasties (968–1009). Walk among the tranquil grounds and admire the Dinh and Le temples, nestled among lush mountains — a perfect introduction to the country’s early feudal history.
Visit Bich Dong Pagoda
We continue to the Bich Dong Pagoda, a hidden gem tucked into the limestone cliffs and surrounded by rice paddies. You’ll climb a short path to explore a series of centuries-old temples built into the cave system, offering both spiritual insight and stunning views.
Tam Coc Boat Ride on the Ngo Dong River
Next, we head to Tam Coc, where you’ll board a traditional sampan rowboat steered by local villagers using their feet! Drift along the peaceful Ngo Dong River, passing beneath limestone caves and between towering karst formations — the same majestic setting featured in the 2018 film Kong: Skull Island.
Lunch at the best Local Restaurant
Disembark and enjoy stunning beautiful region featuring dramatic limestone karsts and villages before a delicious Vietnamese lunch at a local restaurant, surrounded by the serene countryside. (Lunch is included in the tour.)
Biking from Thung Nang “Sun Valley” to Stone Carving Village
After lunch, we hop on bicycles for an immersive ride through the countryside. Pedal off-road through quiet paths and trails to reach Thung Nang, or “Sun Valley” — a peaceful and less-traveled area surrounded by lotus ponds, rice fields, and dramatic cliffs. Continue cycling Extenstion (Upon your wishes) to Ninh Van Village, famed for its traditional stone carving. Watch local artisans skillfully transform limestone blocks into intricate sculptures. If time allows, we’ll also visit a unique century-old stone villa, offering a glimpse into local heritage.

Important message from the supplier
Vietnam is generally relaxed with dress codes. Casual and modern clothing is common in cities but dressing modestly in temples and rural areas is important. Temples and Pagodas: Modesty is key. You should cover your shoulders and knees when visiting religious sites. Avoid wearing revealing clothing like tank tops, short skirts, or shorts. Rural Areas: It’s advisable to dress more conservatively. Wearing long pants and covering your shoulders is a sign of respect for local customs. However, conservative dress is still appreciated, particularly when visiting offices or formal events.
