Like any European city, Vienna was built and developed within the city walls. Later this wall was demolished and the city grew, but the oldest and most impressive architecture is still in the old town, which should be explored on foot. This 2 hour walking tour is a great way to get in touch with the city, its history, its celebrities and its modern day.
At your hotel or at State Opera House
If you choose a hotel in the old town (city center) or close to it, I can pick you up from the hotel. In this case you will see the same sights as described below, but in a different row.
The beautiful garden where only the imperial family used to like to rest
One of the most spectacular squares in Vienna and also a very famous historical place.
Once an imperial winter residence of the Habsburgs, the Hofburg is now a sprawling complex made up of 18 palaces with 16 museums. So if you plan a visit to some museums, you will be provided with all information about the museums of the Hofburg and advice on which one is the best to start with.
On the way through the Hofburg, which is a city within a city, you will see the following sights: Imperial Apartments and Sissi Museum, Spanish Riding School and the Lipizzaner Stallions, Austrian National Library, the former Court Church and many beautiful courtyards and monuments.
We end our walk through the old town in the geographic center of old Vienna, marveling at the stunning architecture of the Gothic St. Stephen's Cathedral . This temple of God was under construction for over 400 years!
I can recommend a nice restaurant or bar near the cathedral or help you find your way to a selected museum or a place of your choice.
