Beijing Tour Reviews

Great trip in Beijing

Thanks to the Mark for being such an excellent tour guide! We have visited Mutianyu part of the Great Wall with him. As we've started our trip early due to his advice, we've able to arrive at the place before it was crowded, and were able to enjoy the sightseeing without too much people around us. That was a breathtaking experience. Mark was very friendly, knowledgeable and well-organised. Highly recommend him as a Beijing tour guide!

Dear IGOR, Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generous review. It was a tremendous honor for me to accompany you on your exploration of this timeless city of Beijing, especially during our early morning trip to the Mutianyu Great Wall. Witnessing the majestic walls bathed in soft morning light and sharing this serene, unspoiled beauty with you—with hardly any other tourists in sight—has become a cherished memory for me. Your heartfelt praise is a tremendous encouragement to me in my work as a local Beijing tour guide. I am always committed to carefully designing leisurely, well-planned, and thoughtful itineraries that allow visitors to truly appreciate the magnificent scenery and rich historical heritage behind each landmark. May the magnificent scenery of the Great Wall remain in your memory for a long time to come. Should your love of travel bring you back to China in the future, I would be honored to serve you once again. Sincerely, Mark, Local Beijing Tour Guide

Great experiance!

We visited the great wall and the forbidden city together withMark. He organized everything perfectly and gsve us exellent recommendations on how to avoid both the extreme heat and the large tourist crowds. To top it all, Mark found a great restaurant for us and even dropped us off there, where we enjoyed some truly delicious peking duck. Greets Severin

Lazy Travelers in Beijing

Being lazy travelers, we did NOT want to get up early for our tour of the Forbidden City (no longer so Forbidden), but John INSISTED that we meet him downstairs in our hotel lobby at 7:00 am. So reluctantly, we met him there, coffee in hand. Well, as much as I hate to admit it, had we not arrived early at the Forbidden City, we would have been swallowed not just by a horde of tourists but by multiple hordes of tourists (though none of them Mongolian hordes). We would have lost well over an hour just to get in, leaving less time for the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace, and other shorter visits. The next day, even worse, we had to be downstairs at 6:30 am to get to the Great Wall. Once again, we arrived just before huge numbers of other tourists, so many that if they had been extras in a movie, 90% would have been created with computer graphics because hiring that many extras would be prohibitively expensive. The next day was even worse. We had to be downstairs at 6:30 AM to get to the Great Wall. But if we hadn't gotten there as early as we did, we would have had to wait in line long enough for them to build another Great Wall, which might have been nice, because the existing one, though big, long, and impressive, is kind of dated. Leaving aside getting up early, John was a terrific guide. On the way to the sights, he talked about their history and, in doing so, taught us a little about the overall history of this amazing country, as well as touched on modern China and how it is influenced by its past. John arranged for a van that was surprisingly comfortable, and, being very lazy travelers, we hated to leave it every time we had to get out. Though it would take a dozen years to really know Beijing, John showed us more of the city and taught us more about it than we ever could have expected in a fun and diverting way.
