Meeting Point

Your hotel lobby

- I will meet you at your hotel lobby. We’ll head to the Forbidden City via public transport or taxi; transport fees are at your own expense.

09:30 AM

Imperial Ancestral Temple

We will visit this hidden gem, located just a few steps from the Forbidden City entrance yet overlooked by 99% of travelers. As an imperial site built to enshrine royal ancestors, the Imperial Ancestral Temple remains exceptionally well‑preserved. It is renowned for its magnificent Ming‑dynasty wooden architecture, constructed from precious golden phoebe timber. While the main halls inside the Forbidden City are closed to public entry, the Offering Hall here is fully accessible. You will be amazed the moment you step inside.

With far fewer crowds, the Imperial Ancestral Temple carries a quiet, solemn atmosphere, giving you ample space to soak in its profound historic vibe.

It is also one of the best photo spots, where you can take wonderful memorable photos.

10:30 AM

Forbidden City

For most tourists, visiting the Forbidden City means simply following the central axis to view the grand main halls. For me, however, that is far from enough. I will take you to lesser‑known, quiet exhibition halls, including the Furniture Hall and Porcelain Hall. We will also explore the newly‑opened Hall of Mental Cultivation, which reopened after a 10‑year‑long renovation.

I will share vivid historical insights, supported by my set of visual aids: a relief map of China, a 5000‑year‑civilization timeline, and many more reference materials. These materials help you grasp different ancient Chinese dynasties, their features, and their contributions to shaping China as a united multi‑ethnic country.

We will view original Qing‑dynasty displays in the Western Six Palaces. I will walk you through fascinating topics such as Chinese written language and the imperial examination system, and we can also discuss any subjects that spark your interest.

Every corner carries stories of emperors, court ladies and ordinary people behind the imperial walls.

02:30 PM

Shichahai Lake Side

Depending on your interests, you can take part in different hands‑on cultural activities. Dumpling‑making takes place inside a real local residence. Tea ceremony and porcelain appreciation will be held in an exquisitely‑restored quadrangle courtyard. You can also take a traditional rickshaw ride along the lakeside to observe local daily life, rent a boat for a leisurely lake cruise, or simply wander on foot and stop for a cup of coffee whenever you want.

Ending Point

At this point, I will take you back to your hotel. Transport fees are at your own expense.
