Meeting Point
At your hotel (central Beijing)
- The comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle will be ready for the approximately 1.5 to 2-hour drive to Mutianyu, depending on traffic.
Scenic Drive to Mutianyu
Enjoy the scenery as you leave the city and enter the countryside of Beijing.
This is a great time to chat with your guide! They can provide fascinating historical context about the Great Wall, its construction, purpose, and significance. Feel free to ask any questions about Chinese culture and history.
Arrival at Mutianyu & Preparation
Arrive at the Mutianyu tourist area. Your guide will handle the ticket purchases (usually included in your tour package) to save time.
Important Decision: Your guide will discuss the best way to ascend/descend the Wall. The main options are:
Cable Car (up & down): A gentle ride to Tower #14.
Chairlift (up) & Toboggan (down): A fun and unique experience. The chairlift goes to Tower #6, and the alpine slide (toboggan) down is a huge hit with all ages.
Hiking (up & down): The most strenuous option, involving a 40-60 minute steep climb on steps before you even reach the Wall itself (not recommended for most visitors on a day trip).
Your guide will assist you in purchasing the tickets for your chosen mode of transport.
Explore the Magnificent Mutianyu Great Wall
You and your guide will ascend the Wall together. Once on the Wall, you have two primary directions to explore:
East towards Tower #1 (The "Big Corner"): A steeper and more challenging climb with fantastic views.
West towards Tower #23 (The highest point at Mutianyu): A longer, more gradual climb offering breathtaking panoramic views.
Your guide's role: They will lead the way, share stories about the watchtowers, point out unique architectural features, help with photos, and ensure you don't get lost. They will also find the best spots for those iconic pictures.
Tip: Take your time, soak in the awe-inspiring views, and walk at your own pace.
Descend and Lunch
Descend using your chosen method (if you chose the toboggan, this is the fun part!).
Your driver will be waiting at the parking lot. You will then be driven to a local restaurant chosen by your guide. This is a great opportunity to try authentic rural Chinese cuisine, such as freshwater fish, local vegetables, and other regional dishes. Your guide will help you order and explain the dishes.
Relaxing Lunch
Enjoy a well-deserved meal after your hike.
Return Journey to Beijing
Relax in the car on the drive back to your hotel. This is a good time to nap or reflect on the experience.
Hotel Drop-off
Dropping you off at your hotel in central Beijing, tired but with incredible memories and photos.

About Tour Guide Conor L.
Hi everyone, I am Conor. A young local tour guide who has an interesting soul in Beijing. I started to do this as a part-time job when I was at high school during the summer vacation, now this year is the 8th since then. with time goes by I found I really fell in love with this job, you will meet people from all around the world and many interesting stories would happen while we are traveling together, I am the guide for them but at the same time we also seem friends, so at the end of the trip it's always so hard to say goodbye to them. I think I really have a passion about my job, I am really enjoyable when I am working. I feel so happy to see the smile of my tourist’s face. It seems like I found the meaning of my life.
I am sure that you guys must be a great lover of eastern culture. Most people always think Chinese culture could be so mysterious and curious, and you are so lucky to find someone like me to lead you to this adventure of this huge land. we will climb up to the ten thousand Milles Great Wall to see its magnificence, explore the largest imperial palace from centuries ago etc.
Also we could go to the Hutong area (street of old districts) at night to eat some barbecue and some beers in some local bar restaurants.
$500/ per group
