On this 2-hour walking tour, we will walk along the walls in their entirety (almost 2 km long) where you will have magnificent views of the Old Town, Mount Srđ, and the surrounding islands. At the end of the tour, if you wish, I can accompany you to one of the most famous bars outside the city walls where you can take a rest from all the walking and stairs and enjoy the stunning beauty of the shimmering Adriatic Sea.
Pile Gate
Meeting point in front of the main entrance to the Old Town called Pile Gate.
When we enter the Old town we will be at the beginning of the main street Stradun. Here you will see the famous Onofrio’s fountain from the 15th century and hear about its construction and importance during Dubrovnik history. From this point, it is also possible to see a Franciscan monastery with one of the oldest functioning pharmacies in Europe where you can still buy natural-made products.
Once we climb the stairs, you will enjoy the breathtaking birds-eye view of Dubrovnik’s old town monuments and main street Stradun.
We will head forward to the south side of the walls facing the sea where you will see the most important monuments in this part of the Old town such as the Fort of Saint Lawrence, the Ethnographical museum, the island of Lokrum. I will also introduce you to the rich and intriguing history of Dubrovnik who once was one of the most prosperous city-states in Europe.
Once we reach Saint John Fortress you will be able to see a charming Old port with its small boats and restaurants. Saint John Fortress houses a Maritime museum with many interesting artifacts and stories about incredible Dubrovnik’s maritime history.
After Saint John's Fortress, we will proceed towards the north side of the walls. During the walk, you will see and hear interesting facts about Dubrovnik's Cathedral, Rector's Palace, Dominican monastery, fortresses Revelin and Minčeta, Sponza Palace, and Saint Blaise church. The view over the whole Old town and its terracotta roofs from this northside is incredible. A great moment to take beautiful photos!
We will end our tour at the same place we began. Of course, if you get tired during our walk, it is not mandatory to do the whole circle. There are two possible exits before reaching this main entrance.
I will pay attention to give you enough time on the walls to take photos, ask questions, grab an ice-cream or some other refreshments.
On the city walls or inside the Old town.

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing a guided tour of Dubrovnik's Old Town, and it was nothing short of extraordinary. Ana super friendly demeanor immediately put us at ease, made this tour an unforgettable experience. From the moment we met her, it was evident that she possessed a depth of knowledge about Dubrovnik's history and culture that was truly remarkable. Her passion for the city shone through as she expertly guided us through the enchanting Old Town. Every corner turned revealed another layer of history and significance that she shared with enthusiasm and precision. The highlight of the tour had to be the breathtaking view from the cable car. As we ascended, our guide provided insights into the city's geography and the stories behind its iconic landmarks. When we reached the top, the panoramic view of Dubrovnik and the Adriatic Sea left us in awe. It was a moment of pure magic, and our guide's commentary made it even more special. Walking the ancient city walls was another highlight. Our guide's storytelling transported us back in time as we traced the footsteps of centuries of history. “Charming and informative”
As my wife has limited mobility we would not have been able to keep up with most tour groups and so we booked Ana for a personal guided tour of Dubrovnik. Ana met us on time without difficulty. In practice we didn't spend a lot of time walking - our choice - but we did spend a lot of time talking about life in modern Croatia and its recent interesting and turbulent history. We really enjoyed this and when we walked with Ana it was at a pace with we could manage.
