Unlike the smooth-sided pyramids of Giza, this pyramid was built in six stacked layers, marking the very beginning of pyramid construction in ancient Egypt and representing a revolutionary leap in architecture and engineering for its time.

We'll walk through the Great Colonnade Hall, the impressive entrance corridor lined with 40 limestone columns designed to resemble bundled reeds — one of the earliest examples of monumental stone architecture in human history. This hall was part of the funerary complex built to serve Djoser in the afterlife.

I'll also take you to the embalming temple area, where I'll explain the fascinating mummification process ancient Egyptians used to preserve bodies for the afterlife — from the removal of organs to the use of natron salt and sacred oils, and the deep religious beliefs behind this ritual.
