Anthony's guided tour takes you through the dark and bloody history of Dublin from Irelands ancient mummies found preserved in the bogs, we’ll hear of Crom Cruach the ancient deity who feasts on the souls of the dead. The druids who worshipped in groves of oak trees and were the guardians of the otherworld, the mysticall fey world of Tir Nan Og, To the foundation by the bloody Norse berserker’s who worshipped Thor Odin and Loki and the Troll’s through the conquest by the Norman's and its development under English rule. Through plagues, revolutions, through opulence and despair, filled with high romance and treason, dark murders and gang wars. The history of Dublin is alluring and intriguing to writers and musicians alike. The tour begins at the Halpenny Bridge on the River Liffey, a beautiful elegenat bridge with a secret dark history. The Tour passes through famous Temple Bar area and site of an ancient brothel, the poltergeist haunted Olympia Theatre, the notorious and haunted Dublin Castle, once the seat of British colonial rule in Ireland haunted by walking white ladies and poltergeists, Viking howlers and a Tudor Architect. We visit the grounds of Christchurch Cathedral, a holy site where Henry VIII ordered the burning of religious relics and where Strongbow Norman conqueror has his Tomb. Nearby was the Newgate prison known as Hell and we’ll hear the tale of lyncanthrophy of a savage and murderous man who could take the form of a pig.
We’ll hear about executions, tortures hangings, revolutionary leaders hung drawn and quartered and the wailing women who abandoned their children. We’ll hear about Vampires, Banshee’s and Puca’s.
Worser still the human monsters who haunted the city, robbing graves and torturing the innocent.
