The beautiful TEMPIO PAUSANIA lies in the heart of the Gallura, amidst impressive granite rocks, wild "macchia", cork and Holm oaks, the whole historic center is made of houses built with granite blocks and so are: streets pavements, sidewalks, monuments, benches, etc.

CASTELSARDO

CASTELSARDO is a picturesque historic town on the northern coast of Sardinia. The old town, fortified with a castle, is an interesting and atmospheric place to visit for a very special day out. There are attractive restaurant tables in historic lanes, and shops selling all kinds of Sardinian handicrafts and other souvenirs. CASTELSARDO's castle, the Castello dei Doria, houses the Museo dell'Intreccio, a museum of basket-weaving, an important local handicraft.

The castle was built by the Doria family of Genoa, and for several years in the fourteenth century Castelsardo, then called Castelgenovese, was the home of a Doria bride: the Sardinian heroine Eleanora d'Arborea.

At the university, I've studied sociolinguistics but as I am a native Sardinian, all my studies were mostly connected to Sardinia, which has a very special cultural and linguistic situation. We can’t recommend Matteo enough. He’s a very knowledgeable local with a wonderful energy. He picked us up in the north of the island and he curated a custom agenda for us based on our interests and our requested final destination in the south of the island. He was also flexible- helping us add and modify the agenda as ideas come up! We had an incredible day and arrived safely in the south of the island for part two of our trip. What an incredible way to see and learn more of the island, rather than just driving straight from point A to point B!
