Upon arrival, prepare for an epic high-altitude trek through the volcanic terrain of El Nevado, a 4,680-meter (15,354 ft) giant. Feel the thrill of hiking along its mighty crater, where rugged cliffs and breathtaking panoramas unfold before your eyes. As you make your way up, admire the stunning twin lagoons, known as Laguna del Sol and Laguna de la Luna, nestled within the crater. Their deep blue waters contrast beautifully against the volcanic rock, creating a truly otherworldly sight.
Toluca Downtown
Descend from the heights to explore Toluca, the charming capital of the State of Mexico. Wander its colonial historic center as your guide brings its rich history and traditions to life. Tour Important Information
• VEHICLE: The type of vehicle depends on the size of your group and may include a car, 7-seater, or minivan.
• ACLIMATIZATION: Nevado de Toluca is 4,680 m high (vs. Mexico City with ~2,300 m) with 538 m elevation gain on the trail that we are gonna take, so for travelers coming from lower altitudes, it’s recommended to take at least 1-2 days in Mexico City upon arrival for adaptation to avoid altitude sickness.
• HIKE: This tour involves at least ~10 km of hiking, so travelers should have moderate physical condition.
• MEETING POINT: Please note that hotel pickup and drop-off are only included in the private tour option. For the group tour, you will need to meet your guide at the designated meeting point.
