Our adventure begins passing by Ponta da Piedade, a breathtaking gem along the Algarve coastline. This natural wonder boasts towering golden-hued cliffs, sculpted by time and the tides into mesmerizing arches, caves, and hidden grottoes. Rising up to 20 meters above the crystal-clear Atlantic, these dramatic rock formations create a postcard-perfect scene that ranks among Portugal’s most iconic sights.

Castelo de Ferragudo

Entering the River Arade by boat is a thrilling and beautiful experience, as the lively city of Portimão gives way to the calm charm of the fishing village of Ferragudo, with its colorful boats and the iconic Castelo de Ferragudo standing guard above the river. As the journey unfolds, the river reveals its deeper meaning: Arade comes from the Phoenician word Arvad, meaning refuge, a feeling that is still present in its peaceful waters. And the story comes full circle when we arrive at the winery, where Arvad is also the name of the wine waiting to be tasted.

Rio Arade

We're going to sail along the River Arade through the Algarve countryside in pure magic. As the boat glides over calm waters, the buzz of the coast fades away and a softer, greener Algarve reveals itself. Rolling hills, orange groves, and patches of wildflowers stretch out on both banks, while traditional whitewashed houses and old farmsteads peek through the landscape like quiet storytellers from another time.

ARVAD Winery

Arriving by boat at the Arvad Winery feels both exclusive and wonderfully immersive, as the calm waters lead us straight into the heart of the vineyard landscape. We'll warmly welcomed by the Arvad team and invited to continue the journey on land, strolling through sun-bathed vines that stretch across the countryside and fill the air with the scents of the Algarve. The walk leads to the winery itself, where a carefully curated wine tasting awaits—each glass paired with charcuterie and other regional delicacies that highlight local flavors. It’s an elegant, relaxed experience that blends nature, hospitality, and taste into a truly memorable celebration of the Algarve.

Return to Lagos

After this immersive experience at the winery, we begin our return journey, navigating back along the same scenic route toward Lagos Marina, carrying with us the flavors, stories, and peaceful rhythm of the River Arade after a truly memorable immersion.
