Praça Gomes Teixeira is a wide open square with a prominent fountain (Fonte dos Leões) featuring 4 griffin statues originally built in the 19th century. With a good selection of cafes, bars and restaurants around or close to the square, this is the place where you can also see the headquarters of the University of Porto, a 19th century neoclassical building, home of the Sciences and Natural History museum.
