I became a Tourist Guide in 2015 when I decided to give professional continuity to a life that had already crossed other professions. My passion for history and travel brought me the desire to study and share knowledge about the "history of places", to go beyond what we see, to enter the soul of what we visit and to learn a little about the mentalities of those who inhabited and lived in the same places we visit today. Private visits are the best way for me to express myself. In my 7-seater van, I welcome my guests in English, French, Italian and Portuguese. My name is Ricardo and I was born and raised in Porto City. Although tourism changed Porto for the best (in my opinion) for the last 5 years, me and my family had to move out from Porto, into the bush, housing and living costs became very high and we made the choice that we should move out to the countryside. In this last year 2020 and even this year 2021 with pandemic work just fell down drastically and we had to adapt. Making Port Wine, Muscat wine and sometimes olive oil in a amatuer way since 2014, this hobbie become my family income. With vineyards and olives fields almost abandoned from the pandemic I rolled up my sleeves and went to work, asking neighbours and friends if I could keep their grapes and olives for harvest time, their answers were immediately YES Dividing my life between Porto and Douro Valley, me and my family feel completely safe, happy and relaxed with this new way of living your life.
