UNESCO Hwaseong Fortress & Korean Folk Village
There are two must-see places in Suwon when visiting Korea. Suwon is about an hour away from Seoul by car. First, Suwon Hwaseong Fortress was built in late 18th century. The fortress is registered as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage. You must see the traditional Korean martial arts performances here, too. At the Korean Folk Village, you can see traditional houses of 600 years ago, local government buildings, blacksmith work shops, watermills, village protecting tree, and handicraft workshops.

Would you like to get away all the way from Seoul and experience nature? A small island (Namiseom) and an arboretum (Morning Calm) are located about 1.5 ~ 2hours away from Seoul. You will take a boat to get to Namiseom, there are tall trees lining both sides of the roads such as Metasequoia Road and Maple Forest. If you like 'Little Prince', 'Pinocchio' and 'Da Vinci', you can replace one of two places above for the 'Petite France and Italian Village'.
