[Expert Historian] National Museum of Korea: The Soul of 4,300 Years
Not a typical tour—understand Korea, not just see artifacts.
See how 4,300 years of history shaped Korean civilization.
Guided by an expert historian, this tour follows a clear narrative through the National Museum of Korea—from ancient kingdoms to modern society.
Rather than simply viewing objects, you will understand the ideas, values, and historical forces that shaped Korea.
This offers the most structured and comprehensive way to grasp Korea’s past and its lasting influence today.

National Museum of Korea
At the National Museum of Korea, we explore the 4,300-year story of Korean civilization through carefully selected highlights rather than attempting to see everything.
Instead of a simple walk through the museum, this tour is designed as an intellectual journey through the core ideas of Korean civilization.
The tour is organized into several thematic sessions showing how Korean culture evolved across different eras.
Session 1 – Origins of Korean Civilization
Prehistoric Korea, early bronze culture, and the foundations of the first Korean kingdoms.
Session 2 – The Golden Age of Art & Craftsmanship
Korea’s national treasures including celadon, porcelain, gold crowns, royal books, pagodas, and Buddhist sculptures.
Session 3 – The World of Korean Buddhism
Understanding Buddha and Bodhisattva images and the role of Buddhism in Korean philosophy, politics, and art.
Session 4 – Dynasties and Historical Transformation
If you wish, I can further explain the historical evolution of Korea through its major dynasties.
The visit is structured as 3–4 learning sessions (about 1–1.5 hours each) with comfortable breaks between them.
Break time: 15–20 minutes at museum cafés
Optional lunch: museum food court or restaurant
The focus of the tour can be adjusted to match your interests in history, art, religion, or Korean civilization.
Finish our tour
We can finish the tour at the Museum or at your Hotel.

“ Excellent introduction to Korea, its past, its present and its challenges”
I had the chance of following Andy for 2 days: we went to the museum where he gave me a comprehensive briefing on Korea's past. We then drove to the Royal Palace and to the Bukchon Village. While I was comfortably seated in his car, he spoke about Korea's present and, the next day, when we visited the DMZ, he spoke about the war and the challenges Korea is facing today. He even prepared a brochure with the most relevant facts to look up and to refer to. I had an issue with my cellphone's internet connection and Andy was very helpful in calming me down and in trying to find a solution.

“A great tour with Andy!”
Andy provided an enjoyable and informative tour. His itinerary flowed well, and provided a look at a variety of interesting neighborhoods in Seoul that all had their own distinct character. His deep knowledge of Korean history added so much to the day. Andy also went above and beyond in helping with a little bit of shopping at the end of the tour. Thank you Andy for a great day!

“Fascinating visit to the DMZ with Andy ”
Four of us were on a cruise ship docked at Incheon and organised the day trip to the DMZ on gowithguide several months in advance. Andy was waiting in the cruise ship terminal when we disembarked and had his luxurious people carrier parked close by. After a short drive, we arrived at the DMZ, visited tunnel number 3, the observation tower and the Gloucester Regiment memorial. Andy was good company, informative and with a good sense of humour. He got us back to the dock in plenty time for our departure and we would certainly recommend him to anyone planning a visit to the Seoul or Incheon area.

I’m very glad everything worked smoothly with the ship schedule and that you were able to experience the Third Tunnel, the observatory and the Gloucester Regiment memorial. Your group was wonderful company, and I truly enjoyed our conversations throughout the day. Thank you again for taking the time to write such a thoughtful review. Andy
