Edinburgh Tour Guide - Irene M.

Irene M.

United Kingdom (UK)

Born in Milan, I spent my adult life in Edinburgh where I moved in 2009. This wonderful city stole my heart and here I am! Throughout this period I had the chance to get to know the city and dive in its history, culture and traditions. I hold a PhD and a Masters degree in History of Art from the University of Edinburgh. I have been working as a tour guide in Edinburgh since 2015. My academic background, teaching experience and passion for history, motivate me to create interesting tour outlines and narratives. I enjoy bringing the stories behind monuments and streets to life! Having worked in the Education Department of local art galleries, I also love to create activities for families and younger audiences. I am a foodie and always looking for the best eating spots in town! I'd be happy to give you insider's tips and recommend off-the-beaten path restaurants, cafes, bars and food markets. I am also an avid reader, I enjoy Scotland crime novels among other genres - nothing better than a Tartan Noir story! Despite my reluctance to sit on planes, I love travelling. Guiding clients from all over the world is one of the highlights of my job: it is so enriching to meet people from different countries and share experiences. Having travelled widely makes me sensible to visitors' needs and I realise the importance of meeting expectations. For this reason, all my tours can be customised. I would love to hear from you and create your unique and personalised itinerary!

Japan

English : Hi! I'm Fran, a passionate traveler. After visiting more than 30 countries in my life, I wanted to share my passion about traveling and the knowledge I got from my experience, and that's why I became a travel content creator for social media… Even when I enjoy sharing traveling content for a lot of people online I still wanted to share it in a more personal way so, since I moved to Tokyo a long time ago, I started giving tours in English and in Spanish, so i have experience giving a lot of tours . With all the tour groups we had an amazing time, so I'm looking forward to preparing a personalized itinerary for you and take you around Tokyo, the city which made me fall in love with (and that's why I settled here despite keep traveling!), I want to show you how people REALLY live here and not only the ''tourist traps'', how their culture works, talk about history, religion, traditions and show you some of my favorites spots in the city. I can always share with you information or some advice is you want to know about other countries, which I already visited, if it's about traveling, I'm always open to help and share my experience. After my personal experience as a tourist in other countries I found tour guides usually take this as a job so they lost their excitement, and they show us around just like part of their routine so, in my case, I try to be like I wish other tour guides were with me while I was traveling: a person who loves traveling, who loves his city and who have a lot of knowledge and tips to share ! Anything you need, feel free to send me a message!

I have been a tour guide for 7 years, working for some of the biggest tour operators in Lisbon. I have started from zero, and during these years, exploring, studying and showing others from north to south our paradise, brought me the experience to become a full time private guide. Studying history for the past 6 years while working as a tour guide has provided me with extensive knowledge of Portugal, and piqued my interest in learning about different cultures and traditions which makes me be always looking for unique, off the beaten track experiences. I strive to develope tours all over the country at the most beautiful and unique sites, providing local and authentic experiences for my customers. My job as I like to describe, it's give you the perfect day, tailor made to suit your own preferences, at the region or regions that you are interesting to visit in our small paradise.

¡Hola!

My name is Ricardo and I was born and raised in Porto City. Although tourism changed Porto for the best (in my opinion) for the last 5 years, me and my family had to move out from Porto, into the bush, housing and living costs became very high and we made the choice that we should move out to the countryside. In this last year 2020 and even this year 2021 with pandemic work just fell down drastically and we had to adapt. Making Port Wine, Muscat wine and sometimes olive oil in a amatuer way since 2014, this hobbie become my family income. With vineyards and olives fields almost abandoned from the pandemic I rolled up my sleeves and went to work, asking neighbours and friends if I could keep their grapes and olives for harvest time, their answers were immediately YES Dividing my life between Porto and Douro Valley, me and my family feel completely safe, happy and relaxed with this new way of living your life. Come and see my amazing town Porto and Douro Valley Wine Region from the eyes of a local !!! Hope to see you soon. Cheers !!! Hola! We are Nicolás, Sofía, Iván and Ignacio. Together, we are a team of professionals in anthropology, history and archeology. With a wide experience working at national museums we are passionate about the past and we love sharing and discussing it. We would like to invite you to discover Buenos Aires from an anthropological point of view. Don't expect to just walk and listen: be prepared to talk, make questions and discuss about the past, present and future of the Argentinean capital. Be welcome to the cultural capital of South America!
