MEXICO´S MURALISTIC MOVMENT OF THE XX CENTURY
Upon his return from Europe in 1922 Diego Rivera was commissioned by the then Minister of Education Jose Vasconcelos, to paint the walls of the Bolivar Amphitheater of the Old College of San Idelfonso, giving birth to one of the most influential art movements in the world. Rivera and his contemporaries David Alfaro Siqueiros, and Jose Clemente Orozco, worked with fresco techniques depicting the greatness of becoming a nation.

TEMPLO MAYOR MUSEUM AND ARCHEOLOGICAL SITE
After a pilgrimage of approximately 252 years from the mythical Aztlan / Chicomostoc, nomadic tribes settled on the western shore of Lake Texcoco, eventually founding the capital city Tenochtilan of what was to become the largest empire in Mesoamerica. “Thoughtful, informative tour around Alameda Park”
Roberto was helpful, clear, and very knowledgable about Mexican history. We appreciated the deeper insight into the sites we visited. Of particular standout was the tiled building where we went inside and learned how the structure had been used; his personal memories of the excavation of the Mayan structures in the zocalo; and the context to every figure portrayed in the Diego Rivera mural. We would have missed many of the sites on our own, and would not have had the greater context. We did the tour at the beginning of our stay in Mexico City, and it was a wonderful orientation to the visit.

“Immerse Yourself in Centuries of Art”
This tour is really something special. You will be treated to a knowledgeable expert interpreting images and symbols that arise throughout Mexican art from the Aztecs and other cultures, and notice how those forms, themes or mythologies appear in the art of Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo, O'Gorman and others. The UNAM murals are must-sees for anyone who loves art - astonishing in scale and richness and Casa Anahuacalli is both an evocative temple to the art of indigenous Mexico and a monument to the person and talent and ego that was Diego Rivera. Roberto is an excellent guide. We signed up for two tours with him and could not have had a more intelligent, insightful and personable expert to take us deep into the art and history of Mexico. His offerings are high quality and his communication is excellent. We ended our experiences feeling like we expanded our knowledge and understanding and gained a new friend in Mexico.

Liz. Thank you for your words and comments. They say it takes two to tango; in this case, it was five of us, and, like in a well-paced dance, we shared and learned from one another. Visiting Frida´s house, with your kids, Josh, and Ann, brought the house alive, I felt, as if they ( Diego and Frida) were there hosting all of us as we shared insights into their lives, and in a certain way, they were there. I look forward to seeing you soon. I hope the Eagles go past the 49ers this coming weekend, but never past the NE Pats, and may this year be a wonderful one for all of you and your loved ones. Remember, you are no longer visitors in México; this is your home. Best regards Rob

I am a young historian who has been working as a tour guide for 4 years. During this time I have met people from all over the world, which has taught me a lot about interacting with all kinds of people as well as showing my city in an authentic and interesting way. I like to take people to places that show another side of Mexico City, a closer perspective of how its inhabitants live day to day. I also enjoy taking photographs on my tours.
