From the Romans to the present day, passing through the Visigoths, Arabs, Jews and Christians, Seville is the cradle of multiple civilizations that are the current image of its streets, food and traditions. The old river port also saw the arrival of ships from the expeditions of Magellan and Christopher Columbus from Asia and America, full of riches - gold, silver, spices and all kinds of products - that turned Seville into one of the most populated and prosperous cities of Europe in the 1500s.

Plaza Nueva
We will start with a small introduction next to the statue of a man on horseback in the center of the square
We will discover from the outside the wonderful cathedral, the largest in the world in Gothic style, on top of an old mosque. You will be delighted with the Orange trees' courtyard. Walking along the street will allow you to appreciate the architecture of its most emblematic buildings, from the 19th century.
Former minaret of the main mosque, the current bell tower of the temple is the symbol of the city and one of the most famous icons of southern Spain.
That is the former Jewish district, one of the most important in Castille in the Middle Ages. Here you can see the typical Andalusian image, in a very picturesque neighborhood full of alleys with whitewashed houses. This place served as inspiration for many artists to describe Sevillian customs and traditions. Many paintings and musical works - such as the 'Barber of Seville' or 'Carmen' - run in this beautiful neighborhood.
We will be surrounded by Unesco World Heritage. Along with the cathedral, the General Archive of the Indies - one of the most important maritime archives in the world - and a little further, the Alcázar, the oldest functioning royal palace in Europe.
We approach the Torre del Oro - Golden Tower - to enjoy one of the best views over the Guadalquivir River, with the working class neighborhood of Triana on the other side. The tower is an architectural jewel of the Moors in Spain, more than 800 years old.
Next to Alfonso XIII Hotel, a masterpiece of Spanish regionalism, is the headquarters of the presidency of Andalusia - the political body of the region - another Sevillian architectural masterpiece, in this case in the baroque style.
We cannot forget one of the largest civil buildings in Spain in its time, the former Royal Tobacco Factory. From here the monopoly of this product for all of Europe was managed. Today it is the headquarters of the Seville University.
One of the highlights of the city and one of the most beautiful squares in the world! It was the center of the Ibero-American exhibition held in 1929. It leaves you speechless. Without a doubt, the ideal place to finish the route.

After traveling around the world with my backpack and living in Berlin for 4 years working as a tour guide, I settled in Seville to continue doing what I like most: showing art and history, speaking languages and meeting new people every day. I am an official guide for Galicia and Andalusia. I like my work to be in person, on the street, with people from all over. So I can feel like I'm still traveling. I am Víctor, Galician by birth and citizen of a world full of places and people to discover.
