Explore Kurashiki, which is like a small but charming gem, still untouched by many tourists. The city is rich in history and culture and has a friendly atmosphere. We will visit several places including local shrine and temples, craft shops like pottery and blue jeans. (You know Kurashiki is the home of Japanese blue jeans. ) We can rest at charming cafe if you like.

“History and Udon Noodles in Kurashiki”
Mack met me at Kurashiki Station for the start of our tour. We walked through the shopping street, and I was fascinated by the shops but decided to visit them on the return leg. Kurashiki is wonderful, so well preserved with the historical house and warehouses. We also walked along old, cobbled street in the quieter areas, away from the canal area which was quite busy with tourists. Mack explained the history of Kurashiki and the family that made it successful textile manufacturing centre. But not only that, it was an early model of social enterprise, hiring women and providing them with education opportunities. We stopped at a couple of shops along the way back to the station, with Mack obliging me with a visit to a Bizan ware shop and a local snack shop selling freshly made red bean pancakes. We then proceeded to the udon shop for Bukkake Udon which is a local speciality. Mack is a wonderful guide, full of knowledge about Kurashiki. He tailored my tour to suit my interests, and we had a great time chatting about many different subjects.

“Absolutely perfect!”
We had the pleasure of working with Mack as a private guide for two days for a group of very high-profile VIP clients. From the very first interaction, it was clear that Mack was an outstanding professional. His communication was impeccable — he asked all the right questions, was incredibly detail-oriented, and took full initiative in organizing and scheduling every part of this two-days program with us. This gave us immediate confidence that our clients would be in excellent hands. In the days leading up to the tour, Mack remained consistently attentive and responsive, ensuring that every detail was confirmed and customized to meet the clients’ preferences. He was proactive, thoughtful, and always one step ahead, which made coordination smooth and efficient for our entire team. During the tour itself, the clients were also very demanding and made several last-minute requests and changes to the itinerary. Mack handled every single situation with remarkable calm, flexibility, and professionalism. He adapted swiftly without missing a beat, and most importantly, he kept our team fully updated at all times. This level of communication and reliability was essential for us, especially when managing expectations for VIP guests. We are sincerely grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Mack, and we hope to collaborate with him again in the near future. It’s rare to find someone with such a perfect blend of organizational skill, adaptability, and genuine care for both clients and partners. Mack is a true asset to any travel experience.

I lived in Seattle, WA US for several years to study public policy and urban planning at University of Washington and Washington State Department of Transportation . The US life has awakened me to realize its beauty and value of the Japanese nature and culture. After coming back from US, I have started my professional career of the infrastructure development in both developed and developing countries as a Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) expert for more than 20 years. I have provided hospitality and honesty as a Japanese during my professional career. I can give you not only sightseeing tours but also technical tours with my expertise. I live in Osaka where an ancient capital city, Kyoto is located within a hour by train. I can show you how Japanese has developed the capital city with urban planning and infrastructure development. I look forward to seeing you here in Japan.

Nao O.
Hello! I'm Nao. I was born and raised in Himeji, which is famous for the Himeji Castle (egret castle). I'm guiding in Kyoto, Osaka, Nara and Hyogo (especially Kobe and Himeji). I'd been in the US for three years attending a university. During the stay I went to the Yellow Stone twice, and visited California. I took a summer French class for a month in Canada, so I speak French a little. I love travelling. I went to many places in Japan. I visited Hokkaido, Okinawa, Hiroshima, Kanazawa, Nikko, Mt. Fuji and so on. I love music ― pops, rock, gospel and classical music. I'm a fan of Beethoven. Some day I'd like to go to Vienna and visit his houses and the forest, where he composed "the Pastoral Symphony". There are lots of attractions in Japan. You can visit shrines, temples, deer park etc. You can enjoy USJ, river cruise, anime museum, Japanese sake, Onsen and of course delicious Japanese dishes. Let's have fun together !

Yoko M.
Hello. I'm Yoko Miyake. Please call me Yoko. I'm a licensed guide. I love travelling. I have visited all the prefectures in Japan. Though Japan has many good places to visit, I hope many foreign travellers will visit my hometown Kurashiki and enjoy their stay there. Because I was born in Kurashiki, and I have lived there since then, I know a lot about Kurashiki. Of course I can show you other good places in Okayama Prefecture and near Okayama Prefecture.
