About Tour Guide Mika S.
My name is Mika, a local guide living in Takamatsu city. I have been an English teacher, but the Setouchi International Art Festival awakened me to the joy of guiding. The more I learn about the Seto Inland Sea region, the more I am impressed by its life, history, architecture and art works. So, I would like to show you the spectacular scenery that you may have missed in guidebooks alone, and the sights that have yet to be introduced in guidebooks.
In Kagawa Prefecture, island tours are also very popular, such as Naoshima, Teshima, and Inujima, which are sacred places for contemporary art, and I think you can better understand the connection between the history of the islands and art by touring with a guide.
Of course, I would also like to introduce fresh harvest from the Seto Inland Sea, delicious local food, and shopping for folk crafts in the Takamatsu shopping arcade, which will satisfy you fully as a highlight of your journey.

“A Perfect Day”
My tour with Mika on Naoshima was an absolute highlight of my two-week trip to Japan. She is incredibly knowledgeable about this unique art island, as well as the artists and architects behind its remarkable museums and galleries. From the planning phase through the day of the tour, Mika was wonderfully accommodating and helpful. Her clear instructions made it easy for me to explore Naoshima on my own the next day and even visit a few highlights in Takamatsu, where I was staying. Mika’s insight, organization, and enthusiasm made the experience unforgettable. Thank you, Mika!

Reading your message truly made my day! Thank you for letting me share Naoshima’s art and architecture with you. Even though it was the busiest time of the year during the Triennale, we were able to appreciate the island thoroughly thanks to your enthusiasm for contemporary art. Wishing you many more inspiring journeys, and I hope you’ll visit Japan again someday! Mika

“Shodoshima Day Tour”
I was searching for things to see in Kagawa and had seen a few videos on Shodoshima, so knew I definitely wanted to visit. When I saw Mika san’s Shodoshima tour page I knew that it was the tour for me ! We quickly came to agreement on a list of places to visit, and then Mika san came back with a detailed itinerary taking into account what time of day the sandbar at Angel Road would be walkable due to the tides. I was more than happy to accept this itinerary as it covered more places than I thought we’d be able to see in one day ! On the day of the tour we met at the ferry terminal in Takamatsu, bought tickets and then took the ferry to Shodoshima. Due to Mika san’s planning we were right on time to catch a local bus to tour the Olive Garden and see the famous “windmill”. From there we then took a small boat over to the “24 eyes movie studio” which I’d asked to be included on the tour and where we had an excellent lunch. I’m so glad I took Mika san’s lunch recommendation of Hishio pork ! We then toured the studio before moving to an old closed school (which was also used as a movie location). The guide at the school was a pupil at the school when it closed, so thanks to Mika san for translating for us both. We then visited two soy sauce breweries - each with their own very distinct character ! From there we went to the famous Nakayama Terraced rice fields, before proceeding to Tomioka Hachiman shrine which has a great view overlooking Angel Road. After that we went to Angel Road itself which was just an amazing experience ! Finally, before heading to the port for our return, we quickly toured Maze Town in Tonosho and visited Ko Shrine. Regrettably it was then time to board the ferry for the return journey, although as this was a Sunday there was a local Shodoshima traditional dance/music group to see us off ! An absolutely fantastic day, which I’d be more than happy to repeat so I’d definitely recommend this tour to others ! Thank you again Mika san !!

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! You were not only the first guest who already knew the story of Twenty-Four Eyes, but also someone who had visited the movie director’s hometown, Hamamatsu City — I was truly impressed. I deeply admired your thoughtful travel choices throughout Japan and felt honored to accompany you on the special island of Shodoshima. I hope you’ll return one day to continue exploring the other two unique prefectures of Shikoku! Mika

Chizuru F.
Hello, my name is Chizuru. I'm from Kagawa, Shikoku Island. I went to primary school in London and in my 20s, I travelled around the world as a backpacker. After becoming a mother, I settled in Kagawa. Over time, I became deeply fascinated by Japanese culture, particularly kimono and Japanese sake. This led me to open a kimono rental shop in one of Japan's most beautiful gardens. I find great joy in meeting tourists and dressing them in kimono. I also began offering Japanese sake bar-hopping tours, which I mostly enjoy because they allow me to have fun with tourists and share my passion for Japanese culture. Kagawa is home to many beautiful islands, and I would love to take you to these stunning places too, where you can experience art, meet the local people, and enjoy local food. There are so many things to do, and I am happy to arrange any activities you desire in Kagawa.

Hi! Thanks for reviewing my profile. I am Australian, from Sydney originally but my life with Japan and its culture and history spans 30 odd years and I have been a Hiroshima resident for 18 of those 30 years. I joined GoWithGuide just recently but be assured I have led many tours in Hiroshima and more widely throughout metropolitan and regional Japan, sharing conversations about the unique society, its fascinating culture and history. I also have written several tourism blogs for inbound tour companies and also the Hiroshima Prefectural Tourism Bureau. I speak fluent Japanese and I have immersed myself in the experience of living here in modern and traditional culture and spent many years studying martial arts Aikido and Iaido. I also have a strong interest in Buddhist teachings. My Japanese calligraphy work over the years has been received recognition and several awards and commissions both in Japan and elsewhere. I'm looking forward to spending a great experience sharing the culture and history of Hiroshima with you.

I am Mayumi, SETOUCHI lover and a National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter for English-speaking guests. I left busy Tokyo where I had lived for many years and moved to this calm city Okayama recently in order to change my way of living in my mid fifties. Before settling down here I spent some months like a traveler and found much comfort and amenity of this region. I came to wish to share such value with others. That is why I started a second job as a private tour guide. Honestly speaking, I am not experienced guide, yet I would like to make every effort to satisfy your requests and make your stay happier. Okayama is one of the most attractive cities in Western Japan. It is known for Kouraku-en which is one of the three most scenic landscape gardens in Japan. Okayama has a mild climate and is famous for fruit production such as white peach and grapes. You must love them. Also the location of Okayama is wonderful, it faces the Seto Inland Sea.You can enjoy idyllic scenery and a lot of outdoor activities are possible. If you are interested in slow life or inner peace,it is your destination. I would like to offer you very special opportunities to deepen your experience in Western Japan. Please visit Okayama and let me guide you. ◆My guidable area : SETOUCHI-islands, Setouchi Art Trienale 2019, Benesse Art Site, Okayama and Kagawa ◆Personal life : I am a working mother. I am fond of walks, cycling, skiing and traveling. At home, I enjoy cooking and gardening.
