Kagawa Tour Guide - Mika S.

Japan

My name is Mika, a local guide living in Takamatsu city. I have been an English teacher, but the Setouchi International Art Festival awakened me to the joy of guiding. The more I learn about the Seto Inland Sea region, the more I am impressed by its life, history, architecture and art works. So, I would like to show you the spectacular scenery that you may have missed in guidebooks alone, and the sights that have yet to be introduced in guidebooks. In Kagawa Prefecture, island tours are also very popular, such as Naoshima, Teshima, and Inujima, which are sacred places for contemporary art, and I think you can better understand the connection between the history of the islands and art by touring with a guide. Of course, I would also like to introduce fresh harvest from the Seto Inland Sea, delicious local food, and shopping for folk crafts in the Takamatsu shopping arcade, which will satisfy you fully as a highlight of your journey.

Hi! Thanks for reviewing my profile. I am Australian, from Sydney originally but my life with Japan and its culture and history spans 30 odd years and I have been a Hiroshima resident for 18 of those 30 years. I joined GoWithGuide just recently but be assured I have led many tours in Hiroshima and more widely throughout metropolitan and regional Japan, sharing conversations about the unique society, its fascinating culture and history. I also have written several tourism blogs for inbound tour companies and also the Hiroshima Prefectural Tourism Bureau. I speak fluent Japanese and I have immersed myself in the experience of living here in modern and traditional culture and spent many years studying martial arts Aikido and Iaido. I also have a strong interest in Buddhist teachings. My Japanese calligraphy work over the years has been received recognition and several awards and commissions both in Japan and elsewhere. I'm looking forward to spending a great experience sharing the culture and history of Hiroshima with you.

Kagawa Tour Guide - Chizuru F.

Chizuru F.

Japan

Hello, my name is Chizuru. I'm from Kagawa, on Shikoku Island. When I was 5 years old, I lived in London and went to primary school there. I returned to Japan as a teenager. In my 20s, I traveled around the world as a backpacker. After becoming a mother, I settled down in Kagawa and started teaching English to local kids. Over time, I became deeply fascinated by Japanese culture, particularly kimono and sake. This led me to open a kimono rental shop in one of Japan's most beautiful gardens. I find great joy in meeting tourists and dressing them in kimono. Additionally, I began offering Japanese sake bar-hopping tours, which I thoroughly enjoy because they allow me to have fun with tourists and share my passion for Japanese culture. Kagawa is home to many beautiful islands, and I would love to take you to these stunning places where you can experience art, meet the local people, and enjoy local food. There are so many things to do, and I am happy to arrange any activities you desire on Shikoku Island.

Japan

Hi, I’m Aki, a government licensed English speaking tour guide. I was born and raised in Kagawa prefecture, the venue of Setouchi Triennale, facing the beautiful Seto Inland Sea, in western Japan. After graduating from a university, I had worked for a global electronics company in Tokyo for 30 years and retired early. Working with foreign colleagues gave me fantastic opportunities to learn about Japan from their points of views, and I came to think it's fun to talk about Japan with foreign people. Also, I love traveling. I have visited a lot of places throughout Japan, amazed by its beautiful nature, great tradition, and wonderful food. I realized Japan has numerous tourist attractions. Then I became a tour guide, hoping to entertain foreign visitors with my tours based on my experiences as a tourist. I've been living in Yokohama and Kamakura areas for more than 30 years. I know Tokyo, Yokohama, Kamakura, and Hakone very well. I love food, nature, cultures, and architectures. I value genuineness of what to see, experience, taste and buy, which cannot always be experienced in a group tour. I believe that participating in my guided tour will bring you a lot of fun. I can help you to explore Japan deeper and to get in touch with the locals, taking you to both popular spots and unbeaten sites where you can see the daily lives of the people. Let’s share a joy of touring in this lovely country. Thank you and see you in Japan!

Hi, everyone. I am Kaz. I live in Ehime, which is opposite from Hiroshima across the Seto Inland Sea. There is no Shinkansen bullet train here, but there are many things to see. You will have a relaxed, peaceful time, feeling as if time were passing slowly. And you will find lots of beautiful things. For example, there has been a tradition in people's behavior that they will show their hospitalityby serving tea or cakes to walking pilgrims. There have been many who want to visit the temples belonging to the Shikoku 88 Sacred Places, as a pilgrim. There is also abundance of natural beauty. You can see high mountains extending to the far distance and rivers running through the area. It goes without saying that there is a lot of delicious food. I am looking forward to seeing you. Please come visit Japan, and discover hidden treasure. Thank you.

Takamatsu Walking Tour

I spent a wonderful day with Mika. She put a lot of effort into preparing, planning and customising the tour based on my interests. She is friendly, knowledgeable and was very generous with her time. Even though the weather wasn't the best it didn't dampen the experience and actually added to it times. Mika also took this into account and adjusted accordingly. Communication before during and after was excellent and very easy. I greatly enjoyed her company and would highly recommend anyone visiting Takamatsu to consider spending the day with Mika. There is no substitute for local knowledge and experience, it really adds another dimension to sightseeing. Many thanks again Mika!

Simon W.

Thank you so much for your heartwarming review! I thoroughly enjoyed our time strolling through Ritsurin Garden, taking in the ink painting-like view from the summit of Yashima, and experiencing the solemn atmosphere of Yashima Temple. If you have any questions while exploring Kagawa, please don't hesitate to reach out anytime. Wishing you safe and enriching journeys ahead!

Mr. Akinaga is the best!

Our driver/guide Mr. Akinaga, was professional and knowledgeable in leading our one day tour. His vehicle was new, clean, and comfortable for the four of us. He kept us engaged in learning local history, customs, and natural beauty even though we were barely able to speak Japanese. We had such a wonderful time touring Shodoshima, and cannot recommend Mr. Akinaga highly enough.

Jason C.

It's lovely to hear your kind words of appreciation for Mr. Akinaga . It's our pleasure to serve customers like you.Thank you again, have a great day!
