Teshima Island Tour
We will explore Teshima Island, whose name literally means “abundant island,” a place where contemporary art and nature exist in remarkable harmony. Highlights include the Teshima Art Museum and Teshima Yokoo House, a vivid transformation of a traditional Japanese home into an immersive work of art by Tadanori Yokoo. Depending on transportation arrangements and timing, we may also visit additional art installations and scenic locations around the island.

About Tour Guide Mika S.
My name is Mika, and I am a local guide based in Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture. Before becoming a guide, I worked as an English teacher. My passion for guiding began with the Setouchi Triennale (Setouchi International Art Festival), which inspired me to share the beauty and stories of the Seto Inland Sea region with visitors from around the world.
I am continually fascinated by the region's rich history, culture, architecture, art, and natural beauty. Through my tours, I enjoy introducing both iconic attractions and hidden gems that reveal the authentic character of Setouchi and Shikoku.
Kagawa is the gateway to some of Japan's most celebrated art islands, including Naoshima, Teshima, and Inujima. I also enjoy guiding visitors along parts of the Shikoku Pilgrimage, a spiritual journey that has connected people, temples, and local communities for more than 1,200 years. Whether your interests lie in contemporary art, history, spirituality, or local culture, I would be delighted to help you discover the unique stories and connections that make this region so special.

“ART everywhere ”
It was a pleasure to meet Mika and have her show us the beautiful places on this island. She was very helpful in explaining certain nuances of the art works and the building architecture. She remained thoughtful and patient as we moved as a group through the various galleries.

Mika listened to our interests and had wonderful suggestions. We are ex theater people and she suggested we visit the oldest Kabuki theater in Kotohira, a place I had not known thru my research.
