My name is Mika, and I am a local guide based in Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture. Before becoming a guide, I worked as an English teacher. My passion for guiding began with the Setouchi Triennale (Setouchi International Art Festival), which inspired me to share the beauty and stories of the Seto Inland Sea region with visitors from around the world. I am continually fascinated by the region's rich history, culture, architecture, art, and natural beauty. Through my tours, I enjoy introducing both iconic attractions and hidden gems that reveal the authentic character of Setouchi and Shikoku. Kagawa is the gateway to some of Japan's most celebrated art islands, including Naoshima, Teshima, and Inujima. I also enjoy guiding visitors along parts of the Shikoku Pilgrimage, a spiritual journey that has connected people, temples, and local communities for more than 1,200 years. Whether your interests lie in contemporary art, history, spirituality, or local culture, I would be delighted to help you discover the unique stories and connections that make this region so special.

Hello, my name is Chizuru. I'm from Kagawa, Shikoku Island. I went to primary school in London and in my 20s, I travelled around the world as a backpacker. After becoming a mother, I settled in Kagawa. Over time, I became deeply fascinated by Japanese culture, particularly kimono and Japanese sake. This led me to open a kimono rental shop in one of Japan's most beautiful gardens. I find great joy in meeting tourists and dressing them in kimono. I also began offering Japanese sake bar-hopping tours, which I mostly enjoy because they allow me to have fun with tourists and share my passion for Japanese culture. Kagawa is home to many beautiful islands, and I would love to take you to these stunning places too, where you can experience art, meet the local people, and enjoy local food. There are so many things to do, and I am happy to arrange any activities you desire in Kagawa.

Hi! Thanks for reviewing my profile. I am Australian, from Sydney originally, but my life with Japan and its culture and history spans 40 years, and I have been a Hiroshima resident for 25 of those 40 years. I joined GoWithGuide in 2019, but I have led many tours in Hiroshima and more widely throughout metropolitan and regional Japan, sharing conversations about the unique society, its fascinating culture, and history. I also have written several tourism blogs for inbound tour companies and also the Hiroshima Prefectural Tourism Bureau. I speak fluent Japanese and I have immersed myself in the experience of living here in modern and traditional culture and spent many years studying martial arts Aikido and Iaido. I also have a strong interest in Buddhist teachings. My Japanese calligraphy work over the years has been received recognition and several awards and commissions both in Japan and elsewhere. I'm looking forward to spending a great experience sharing the culture and history of Hiroshima with you.

I am Mayumi, SETOUCHI lover and a National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter for English-speaking guests. I left busy Tokyo where I had lived for many years and moved to this calm city Okayama recently in order to change my way of living in my mid fifties. Before settling down here I spent some months like a traveler and found much comfort and amenity of this region. I came to wish to share such value with others. That is why I started a second job as a private tour guide. Honestly speaking, I am not experienced guide, yet I would like to make every effort to satisfy your requests and make your stay happier. Okayama is one of the most attractive cities in Western Japan. It is known for Kouraku-en which is one of the three most scenic landscape gardens in Japan. Okayama has a mild climate and is famous for fruit production such as white peach and grapes. You must love them. Also the location of Okayama is wonderful, it faces the Seto Inland Sea.You can enjoy idyllic scenery and a lot of outdoor activities are possible. If you are interested in slow life or inner peace,it is your destination. I would like to offer you very special opportunities to deepen your experience in Western Japan. Please visit Okayama and let me guide you. ◆My guidable area : SETOUCHI-islands, Setouchi Art Trienale 2019, Benesse Art Site, Okayama and Kagawa ◆Personal life : I am a working mother. I am fond of walks, cycling, skiing and traveling. At home, I enjoy cooking and gardening.

Kagawa Tour Reviews

“Absolutely Incredible Experience on Shodoshima! Went Above and Beyond for Takagi-san Fans”
If you are visiting Shodoshima and looking for an unforgettable private tour, look no further. We had an amazing experience exploring the island, and our driver was the absolute highlight of our trip. We ordered the 6 hour tour which was enough for lunch and a tour od most of the island. We are huge fans of Teasing Master Takagi-san, and while we came with a list of locations we wanted to see, our driver blew past our expectations. We were not able to go to all (because one involves a very long hike up some stairs and we were aware of this) but he clearly knows the island inside and out because he went out of his way to show us many additional anime and live-action filming locations that weren’t even on our original itinerary which more than made up for it! He even made sure we hit the iconic Kiki’s Delivery Service live-action filming spot and helped us get the famous (free) broom rental for photos. He even took the time to help us search (he was so quick) for the legendary "heart-shaped" olive leaves, and then also helped us get them laminated at the gift shop. Regarding communication: Our driver did not speak English, and we only know a little Japanese, but it was never an issue. We used Google Translate throughout the day to chat (when needed). He was also incredibly helpful with local recommendations. He took us to a fantastic restaurant for lunch, and when we ran into a difficult situation at a different pizza place later, he stepped in to support us immediately and called his restaurant owner friend to take us in. His professionalism and kindness really made us feel taken care of and welcomed. We couldn't have been happier with the service. If you want a driver who is enthusiastic, knows their stuff, and truly treats you like family, book with this guide. Highly, highly recommend!

“Highly recommended”
It was a pleasure having her during our trip in Kagawa. She was flexible, professional, and very accommodating throughout the tour. She also proactively suggested great local restaurants and activities, and her English communication was excellent. Highly recommended for travelers visiting Kagawa areas such as Naoshima, Teshima, Takamatsu, and nearby areas.
