About Tour Guide Uemitsu K.

Having been lived in Tokyo area for more than 40 years, I am competent to plan and guide a tailored Tokyo city. The itinerary will be selected from major commercial districts (such as Shibuya, Shinjuku, Akihabara, Ginza) , popular sightseeing places (Imperial palace, Asakusa, etc.) as well as famous architectures and building (Tokyo tower, Tokyo Sky Tree, Tokyo Government Building, etc.) .

In addition to watching sports events and movies, I like city walking in modern Tokyo, especially Shibuya, Ginza, and Roppongi, etc. Learning histories is also one of my favorite hobbies, which made me become a volunteer guide in the Edo Tokyo Museum since 2016.

My tour will focus on the interests of foreign guests through advanced negotiation and communication in order to finalize the spots and itinerary.

Great day exploring Japanese modern culture

Uemitsu did a wonderful job creating an itinerary that fit our daughter’s interests. He explained well the different areas as we walked the streets of Tokyo in Harajuku, Shibuya, and Odaiba. He allowed time for shopping and exploring. He even called a location we had left due to long lines and found they had opening, so we headed back. We truly appreciated the time and effort put in to making this a great experience for our daughter’s learning more about Japan modern culture.

Dear Ian, Thank you for your review. I am glad that your family had a good time. Hope you will come back to Japan in the near future. Best regards,

doesn't seems professional

We requested to go Tsukiji Outer Market and Asakusa. It was a rainy day during the tour. Totally felt that the guide fees was not worth at all. The whole tour was awkward and unclear as there is little to no explanation on the places we went to and there is not much of conversation among us. We were the one who asked question but sometimes he just answered with a smile. We were being asked to get a 900yen one day metro & subway pass without being told why.

Dear Mei, I apologize that I coild not serve you well bacause it had been raining and the we had encountered jam in the trains. But, I remebered that I explained the one day subway pass is the most economical and convenient way to cover the route that you requested, so your.family agrred to puchased the tickets from the vending machines by youselves. Actually, I had a problem for this tour because your reservation request an English guide, but asked me to guide your family in Chinese just before we start the tour on the day. So, probably I could not get the meaning of your some questions. Hope that you will find a better Chinese guide next time. Best regards, Uemitsu Kageyama

Japan

Born and bred in Tokyo I am still living in the suburbs of Tokyo. I spent several years in the U.S. and the UK and wanted to show international visitors around Japan in return for the hospitality I had received in foreign countries. After coming back from the UK, I obtained the qualification of the National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter. I can guide guests to every corner of Tokyo including areas off the beaten track. As a history fan I can tell you a historical episode behind the scenes. From a local perspective I can explain how we Japanese are getting along. Since I have science and technology backgrounds, I can give you a tour of scientific or technical things as well..

Japan

I’ve called Japan home for seven years, embracing everything from Tokyo’s vibrant urban energy to the tranquillity of the countryside. Before becoming a guide, I explored Tokyo like a curious long-term traveller, uncovering unusual temples, quirky landmarks, hidden backstreets, local live music venues, rural mountain villages, and one-of-a-kind cultural gems. My passion lies in crafting immersive journeys that dive deep into Japan’s heart, sparking a sense of wonder and escape that makes travellers feel worlds away from home. I’m excited to guide you through the Tokyo labyrinth. This city is endlessly fascinating—so layered and dynamic that even with a lifetime here, you’d only scratch the surface. I’ll show you how to navigate it like a local, as mastering the transport system isn’t as tricky as it seems, and I’ll help you gain the confidence to explore Tokyo on your own while we focus on the city’s hidden treasures. Together, we can visit parts of Tokyo most travellers overlook—the nostalgic charm of the Shitamachi, the hustle of salaryman districts, the neon-lit buzz of cyber Tokyo, and tranquil local power spots. Let’s discover the city’s hidden depths and create memories that will last a lifetime!
