About Tour Guide Hoshie K.
Hi, I’m Hoshie! I’m a national government licensed tour guide from Osaka. I moved to Kagoshima in 2021, and after living here for four years, I’ve completely fallen in love with this amazing place. That’s why I decided to become a guide in Kagoshima!
Kagoshima is a perfect blend of stunning nature and rich culture. We can see the majestic Sakurajima volcano from the city, which reminds us the powerful natural forces. Kagoshima was home to major Meiji Restoration figures, so history lovers will find plenty to explore. And of course, the food is incredible—famous for Kurobuta (Berkshire pork), Satsuma-age (fried fish cakes), and Shochu (a local distilled spirit).
I’m passionate about history and love visiting historical sites all over Japan, especially in Kyoto and Nara, where I can explore Japan's ancient history. I also like outdoor activities like kayaking, hiking, and camping. Kagoshima’s natural landscape is perfect for these adventures, so there’s always something new to discover!

Hello! I’m Hitomi. I was born and raised in Kagoshima. After graduating from the college, I mostly lived in Tokyo and came back to my hometown 10 years ago. I love communicating with people and sharing each other’s culture and history. As I used to work for an airline company, I could travel to many foreign countries with lots of joy experiencing their unique cultures. I was born and raised on the Osumi Peninsula in the eastern part of Kagoshima Prefecture. In elementary school, I walked 4 km one way to school. I used to fuss with the neighborhood children about the kappa (a well-known Japanese specter, water imps) in the creek. In summer, I drank from the freshwater flowing into the eel pond on my way home and picked wild strawberries to eat. I aim to be a guide who can provide such "unique" and exciting experiences that I cultivated as a child. I am a local, and I can give you a guide who understands the area. I have a husband, a son, a daughter, and two cats. My home is in a rich natural environment, and in early summer, you can hear the call of the ruddy kingfisher!
