I was born and raised on the Osumi Peninsula in the eastern part of Kagoshima Prefecture. In elementary school, I walked 4 km one way to school. I used to fuss with the neighborhood children about the kappa (a well-known Japanese specter, water imps) in the creek. In summer, I drank from the freshwater flowing into the eel pond on my way home and picked wild strawberries to eat. I aim to be a guide who can provide such "unique" and exciting experiences that I cultivated as a child. I am a local, and I can give you a guide who understands the area. I have a husband, a son, a daughter, and two cats. My home is in a rich natural environment, and in early summer, you can hear the call of the ruddy kingfisher!

We can see the majestic Sakurajima volcano from the city, which reminds us the powerful natural forces. Kagoshima was home to major Meiji Restoration figures, so history lovers will find plenty to explore. And of course, the food is incredible—famous for Kurobuta (Berkshire pork), Satsuma-age (fried fish cakes), and Shochu (a local distilled spirit). I’m passionate about history and love visiting historical sites all over Japan, especially in Kyoto and Nara, where I can explore Japan's ancient history. I also like outdoor activities like kayaking, hiking, and camping. Kagoshima’s natural landscape is perfect for these adventures, so there’s always something new to discover! “6 hours of interest and fun in Kagoshima”
Mikiko-san provided a really interesting and fun afternoon and evening to my wife and I in Kagoshima. We visited the gardens and historical buildings at Sengan-en, unusual shops in the Tenmonkan shopping precinct, then ended at an izakaya. Mikiko-san has a great sense of humour, good knowledge, an easy pace and excellent English. I suppose we could have done it on our own, but really, our stress levels would have been higher, we wouldn't have been to as many interesting places, or have understood half as much of what we saw there. And we had a great time doing it! Mikiko-san is highly recommended.

“Kagoshima tour ”
