Hi, thanks for checking out my profile! I'm Richard, originally from England and now living in Kanazawa, Japan. I've been here for four years and have grown to love this amazing city and the surrounding Ishikawa prefecture.
With help from my wife and her family, who were born and raised in Kanazawa, I’ve discovered not only the famous sights and places to eat and shop, but also some of the lesser-known hidden gems. Whether you're into history, food, gaming, art, or shopping, there's something here for everyone. I'd love to help you explore it all!

“Kanazawa Historical Tour”
We had a fantastic tour with Richard. He is informative, helpful and considerate. We learned a lot about Kanazawa. We enjoyed visiting the Samurai and Geisha district. The Ninja Temple was amazing. Arts and Crafts Museum had an amazing exhibit Very enjoyable time together!

“Great day at Kanazawa with Rich”
Our next cruise port was Kanazawa. Rich picked us up at the port and drove us around the high points of Kanazawa. He explained the history and was very flexible to provide excellent service. Kenrokuen Gardens was magnificent and majestic. We visited the Nomura Samurai House - so many secret doors. We walked the beautiful local streets of the Geisha district and tried local snacks at Omicho market. Rich took us to the best eats! I would recommend Rich for your tour at Kanawaza. He is down to earth guy!

“The very best Guide”
Our family [5adults] really enjoyed Richard's english accent, whilst describing what we were seeing. We couldn't have done all we did, without him. Richard accommodated Aunty Vi, reducing her walking, by racing back to get the car. Truly, the best guide we had in Japan. if you are on a short trip 3 weeks like us, we Highly recommend a great guide as difficult to understand how to get to places & you need the narrative to understand.

Kanazawa is known for many things including gold leaf, a rich samurai history, its beautiful gardens, delicious seafood, and historic Geiko (Geisha) culture. I would love to introduce these things and so much more! Did you know Kanazawa is also home to the oldest sake brewery in the region? What about the local ceramics and laquerware? You can also participate in different workshops like traditional Japanese sweets-making class, gold leaf pasting, Kaga-yuzen (local kimono brand) painting, and sushi-making using local ingredients. There are many beautiful known spots and a lot of hidden gems in the area and I can't wait to introduce them to you. One of my hobbies is photography and I will surely capture your moments in the city to make your stay extra memorable. I'm excited to meet you in the Golden City, Kanazawa.
