Hi, thanks for checking out my profile! I'm Richard, originally from England and now living in Kanazawa, Japan. I've been here for four years and have grown to love this amazing city and the surrounding Ishikawa prefecture.
With help from my wife and her family, who were born and raised in Kanazawa, I’ve discovered not only the famous sights and places to eat and shop, but also some of the lesser-known hidden gems. Whether you're into history, food, gaming, art, or shopping, there's something here for everyone. I'd love to help you explore it all!
Interested in local history and culture? Keen to try incredible hidden food spots? Want to shop for records, fashion and quirky items? Got a craving to go hunting for retro and/or modern video games? I have you covered!
I also have a 7-seater car, so I can take you to exciting places beyond Ishikawa if you're up for it!
Reach out and ask me anything, I am always happy to help!

“Fantastic Family tour with terrific guide”
We had an absolutely fabulous day with Richard in Kanawaza. For our family of five, travelling around in taxis or PT is difficult. Richard picked us up literally metres from our cruise ship and travelling around with him was a breeze. We saw considerably more with Richard and his van than would have been possible on our own. Richard entertained us with interesting info about Japan, Kanawaza and life in Japan as a Westerner. It was great having him to take family photos and point out the best places to see, short cuts to make our day efficient and tips on what and where to eat. Should we ever visit Kanawaza again, Richard would be the first person we would call. 100% recommend.

“A fantastic one-day tour to Shirakawa-go, Gokayama, and Ainokura”
Richard guided us through the UNESCO World Heritage villages for a day, and we liked the small village of Ainokura best. He told us a lot about the history and daily life in the villages. We really enjoyed our time with him.

“Great over view of the Noto peninsula with a focus on the Senmaida rice terraces. ”
Richard was a terrific guide. Knowledgeable about the region and its attractions and super accommodating for the interests of our (fairly eclectic) group. Covering the natural beauty of the coast, the history, and the religious sights he brought it all together. That he recommended an amazing sushi place for lunch did not hurt either. I’d recommend Richard highly and will certainly call on his services again if I’m back in the area.
