“Kanazawa: A great destination with an excellent guide”
The one-day tour of Kanazawa with Yoji K. is an excellent way to see the city's historical treasures. Kanazawa may not receive the same amount of press as Kyoto, but its historical sites are remarkably well-maintained. Because the major attractions are all within walking distance of each other, it is easy to see a lot of the city in a single day. In our opinion, the sites here are just as impressive as those in other major tourist destinations.Yoji is a knowledgeable and professional guide who shares interesting historical context at each stop along the way. In addition to the sightseeing, he introduced us to great local restaurants, including an excellent spot in the fish market to try the local seafood. He also provided helpful recommendations for other towns on our itinerary, one of which ended up being our favorite stop of our entire trip.

“Amazing guide!”
We had the most wonderful day in Kanazawa with Yoji. His English was exceptional and his knowledge extraordinary. We had booked him for 7.5 hours and were worried it would be too long, but the day flew by. Yoji just strolled around the city taking us through the castle, the amazing gardens, the best coffee so far in Japan and we finally found examples of the no nails building techniques, which are just brilliant. Through the Geisha district, then the Samurai district, viewing original Samurai homes from a foot solider to the head of Samurai armies. He took us to a local soba noodle restaurant for an amazing lunch, plus a lot of fascinating little shops that you would normally disregard or walk by. It was the most memorable day, made so by a wonderful human, that has given us an insight into the Japanese culture, both past and present that will remain with us for a long time. The weather was also perfect, so a beautiful way to bring our Japanese holiday to a close.

Thank you for considering me as your guide! I am excited to become not just your guide, but your friend as we explore Kanazawa together—a city where rich cultural traditions seamlessly blend with modern vibrancy. Being a native of Ishikawa Prefecture, with Kanazawa as its heart, I have a deep connection to this place. Though I spent several years living in New York, I’ve always carried the spirit of Japan with me. Upon returning to Japan, I immersed myself in the travel industry, gaining over a decade of experience and obtaining my guiding license in 2017 while working for successful inbound travel agencies. My time abroad has given me a profound appreciation for Japan’s uniqueness, and my passion for sharing its beauty and culture with travelers has only grown stronger. Now, I am eager to share that enthusiasm with you as we explore Japan together, uncovering hidden gems and experiencing its timeless charm.

Shoten S.
Hello, my name is Shoten, please call me Sho. I was born in a local area in Toyama prefecture. I majored in civil engineering at a college and am interested in historical infrastructures. After graduation, I continued to study English at a local English circle. In international activities, I also guided foreign people around Toyama Prefecture, Ishikawa Prefecture, and Gifu Prefecture. After retirement, I work as a guide interpreter and a translator. The Hokuriku region has many sightseeing spots, including beautiful landscapes like Kenrokuen Garden and Tateyama, tasty food like traditional Kaga dishes and fresh seafood from Toyama Bay, and traditional crafts like Takaoka copperware and Inami woodcarving. I introduce these spots and historical infra tourism, such as the Kurobe dam and industrial tourism. I look forward to welcoming you to the Hokuriku region.
