About Tour Guide Richard 'hawk' H.
I have been an Interpretive Tour Guide for over 20 years. I landed in Japan with the United States Air Force in 1983 and have been learning, tasting and enjoying Japanese food all this time! Woohhoooo!!
As an ex-Executive Assistant Food and Beverage Manager/Director, I know food, most of all Japanese food, and I want to show you how fun and incredible it is! I promise your time with me will be fruitful, (get the pun?) making some amazing memories along the way.
I used to do daytime cultural tours until the pandemic left us out in the cold for three years so I had to switch over and do something else in which now I run a food tent and a food truck, making delicious smash burgers and tacos.
Even though I was number one on a renowned travel platform for a while, I have selected to only do evening food and sake tours now. I also run a children's food bag program three days a week that we started about a year and a half ago.
So if you would like me to take you around, I will still give you cultural and historical information, feed you amazing food and create some great memories for you to take home.
Important
Always let me know your likes and dislikes concerning food and of course any allergies. Japan is not vegan or vegetarian friendly but I will do my best to accommodate you.

A nice four (04) hour tour that covers Osaka`s oldest Shrine, Japan`s oldest Temple and two Food & Drinking Districts. History and Culture in a nutshell. A four hour day trip taking you to a Living Museum, Osaka Castle, a local Outdoor Shopping Mall, ending up at the most famous Entertainment District in Osaka. DEEP Local Small City Sake & Food Tour
This tour is has the same concept as my regular Osaka Sake & Food Tour but we do it where I live, north of Osaka. About 15 minutes north of Umeda, I live sandwiched between the suburbs and rice patty fields. We hit 3 or 4 little local places with local clientele, trying locally made food. And yes, of course, having Sake along the way! :)

Local Osaka Soul Food Cooking Class
Come join us at our local NPO Food Cafeteria for a class on preparing some Osakan Soul Food. You will prepare some local Fried Skewers, Onigiri Rice Cakes and and a Hearty Soup (Tonjiru); then eat what you prepared at the end. So the pick up time would be 11:00am and last for 3 hours. “A perfect mix of true fun and great authentic experience”
Japan is a totally unique country in most aspects - history, culture, nature, lifestyle, technology...and serving/eating of course. Without this Food & Sake tour, our experience of Japan would've been sorely lacking both pleasure and comprehension. Richard, being such a juicy personality and perfectly professional as a guide, was the best choice we could hope for. The evening was unforgettable and fun-fun-fun! Never in our life would we been able to discover and experience similar outlets and variety of flavors to which Richard has introduced us. And even though by the end of the tour most of us (especially ladies) were quite happily drunk, the next day brought no hangover suffering whatsoever! Such is the magic of carefully selected and properly enjoyed quality SAKE!!!
