This tour is has the same concept as my regular Osaka Sake & Food Tour but we do it where I live, north of Osaka. About 15 minutes north of Umeda, I live sandwiched between the suburbs and rice patty fields.
We hit 3 or 4 little local places with local clientele, trying locally made food. And yes, of course, having Sake along the way! :)
This itinerary can be customized to meet your needs and preferences. Send me a message with your requests!
Meeting Point
Ryokuchikoen Station on the Midosuji Line
- You will catch the Midosuji Osaka Metro (Red Line) subway and head north to Ryokuchikoen Station, riding towards the front of the train. When you exit, you will see an escalator that goes down and I will meet you at the ticket gates.
Meet Up
We will meet up at Ryokuchikoen Station on the Midosuji Line, 14 minutes North of Osaka.
Izakaya
You will visit a local, no thrills, Izakaya and eat locally made appetizers, drink sake and rub elbows with some locals of the area.
Local Soul Food Restaurant (Kushikatsu Skewers)
Our next stop is a local favorite and his family are good friends, local fried skewers! Another sake involved here!
Local Snack Pub
Now, you don`t have to sing but you will get to experience a quaint, little, local Snack Pub where the locals come to sing KAROKE! After the sake, I might be able to talk you into singing at least one song!
Finish and head to Station
I will walk you back to the station to catch your train after your LOCAL nite in this community.

Always let me know your likes and dislikes concerning food and of course any allergies. Japan is not vegan or vegetarian friendly but I will do my best to accommodate you.
I have been an Interpretive Tour Guide for over 20 years. I landed in Japan with the United States Air Force in 1983 and have been learning, tasting and enjoying Japanese food all this time! Woohhoooo!!
As an ex-Executive Assistant Food and Beverage Manager/Director, I know food, most of all Japanese food, and I want to show you how fun and incredible it is! I promise your time with me will be fruitful, (get the pun?) making some amazing memories along the way.
I used to do daytime cultural tours until the pandemic left us out in the cold for three years so I had to switch over and do something else in which now I run a food tent and a food truck, making delicious smash burgers and tacos.
Even though I was number one on a renowned travel platform for a while, I have selected to only do evening food and sake tours now. I also run a children's food bag program three days a week that we started about a year and a half ago.
So if you would like me to take you around, I will still give you cultural and historical information, feed you amazing food and create some great memories for you to take home.

“Drank all night, didn't get drunk”
It wasn't the sake that was intoxicating, but it was all the things that Richard spoke. He truly has the best knowledge about the cuisine, area, spots and local history. We talked a lot, visited hidden gems, has all the way from affordable, expensive till priceless food, the best of their categories. If you're looking to explore the food scene of Namba/Dotonbori, Richard is THE guy

“Fantastic tour guide ”
Richard was recommended by a friend who had toured with him before. Richard was outgoing and funny. We really enjoyed his sense of humor and stories of his life in Japan. His English and Japanese was great. He had preplanned our stops at local, off the beaten track Sake bars and was very friendly with the vendors. It was clear they new him well and we were treated like gold. I wish he did more tours as I would have booked them all with him. I highly recommend Richard !
