Here we have some sake & good food and I will familiarize with the area so you can walk around and ponder which of the 15,000 restaurant or bars you want to go to later. Last 30 minutes in this area to end the tour.

I have been an Interpretive Tour Guide for over 20 years. I landed in Japan with the United States Air Force in 1983 and have been learning, tasting and enjoying Japanese food all this time! Woohhoooo!!
As an ex-Executive Assistant Food and Beverage Manager/Director, I know food, most of all Japanese food, and I want to show you how fun and incredible it is! I promise your time with me will be fruitful, (get the pun?) making some amazing memories along the way.
I used to do daytime cultural tours until the pandemic left us out in the cold for three years so I had to switch over and do something else in which now I run a food tent and a food truck, making delicious smash burgers and tacos.
Even though I was number one on a renowned travel platform for a while, I have selected to only do evening food and sake tours now. I also run a children's food bag program three days a week that we started about a year and a half ago.
So if you would like me to take you around, I will still give you cultural and historical information, feed you amazing food and create some great memories for you to take home.

“An Epic Night ”
Richard is an absolute legend. Best guide and best night we had in Japan so far. He'll wine and dine you like you wouldn't believe it. Unless you have the personality of a radish - BOOK HIM.

“Fun night out in Osaka”
Richard is a cool dude and we had a wonderful time out with him. Come hungry!

“Drank all night, didn't get drunk”
It wasn't the sake that was intoxicating, but it was all the things that Richard spoke. He truly has the best knowledge about the cuisine, area, spots and local history. We talked a lot, visited hidden gems, has all the way from affordable, expensive till priceless food, the best of their categories. If you're looking to explore the food scene of Namba/Dotonbori, Richard is THE guy
