“History and culture of Okinawa”
I spent a fantastic day visiting castles and shrines in Southern Okinawa with Yuki. He was knowledgeable, warm, flexible and attentive, I felt like I was shown around by a friend rather than touring with a guide. “WWII historical sites”
We appreciated Yuki taking us to the various historical sites in Southern Okinawa and sharing his personal and local insights during this tragic period. The Himeyuri Peace Museum was particularly moving. Yuki brings a homegrown perspective to his tour, including local restaurants and background. His Shabu-Shabu recommendation for dinner was oishii!

“Connecting to the soul of Okinawa”
We spent 2 wonderful days touring the island with Yuki. On the first day we went North to visit the Ocean Expo and Ryuku Village. Both were amazing experiences like no other. Yuki timed it perfectly so we were able to view the impressive display of marine life and get seats for the dolphin show. He did the same for us at the Ryuku Village where we saw a butterfly garden, the traditions of the village and ended with a powerful Taiko drumming performance. On the second day we went South where Yuki helped me connect to my family history at the Himeyuri war memorial and finished with a traditional Okinawan soba lunch. He took us to a perfect spot that we would never have found in our own. Yuki gave us everything we wanted during our 2 days. He even stopped at places we asked about along the way. Yuki was prompt, polite, flexible, funny, informative and helped us to connect with the Okinawan culture. Thank you Yuki for all the memories.

For the example, change of monetary system(US dollar to Yen),Change of traffic regulation(driving vehicle from right to left).The reversion of Okinawa to main land Japan was biggest historical event.The US administered Okinawa for 27 years. As a result, thing were Americanized in many aspects. Historically, Okinawa was once independent nation until 1872.During Kingdum era, Okinawa actively traded with China, South Asia Countries, Korea, and Japan. In the end, our culture is quite differ much from main land Japan. For instance, architectural technique, daily customs, and culture are also unique. Okinawa is the only prefecture belong to subtropical climate zone. Even winter time, it's neither hot nor cold. People can enjoy marine sport all through the year.Canoeing, Kayaking, Diving, and Snorkeling are popular. Besides, beatiful white sand beaches and attractive coastline are abundant. Green sea water and blue sky have been lured people from all over the world. Traditional music and dance are worth seeing. Please visit Okinawa and enjoy extraordinary trip.
