Meeting Point
Fountain of Ahmed III (Sultanahmet Square)
- We will meet right in front of the historic Fountain of Ahmed III, located just outside the main gate (Imperial Gate / Bab-ı Hümayun) of the Topkapi Palace. I will be holding a guide badge or waiting for you with a big smile! Starting early at 09:00 AM is our secret weapon to beat the crowds and enjoy the palace in its quietest, most magical hours.
The Courtyards & The Imperial Gate
We begin our journey by stepping through the monumental Imperial Gate. As we walk through the First and Second Courtyards, we will set the stage for how the Ottoman Empire was ruled, the daily life of the Sultans, and the grand ceremonies that once took place right where we stand.
The Imperial Harem (The Highlight)
Next, we dive straight into the most private and mysterious section of the palace: The Harem. We will wander through its beautifully tiled corridors, courtyards, and rooms. I'll share the real-life "Game of Thrones" stories of the powerful Valide Sultans (Queen Mothers), the concubines, and the hidden political intrigues that shaped world history.
Holy Relics & Talismanic Shirts
We will then visit the Sacred Relics section, home to deeply spiritual and historic treasures. Right next to it, we'll explore the fascinating Talismanic Shirts (Tılsımlı Kıyafetler)—astrologically calculated, verses-inscribed armor-shirts made for the Sultans for protection and victory. This is always a huge hit for those who love mystery and symbolism!
The Imperial Treasury & Bosphorus Views
We will visit the breathtaking imperial collections, including the pavilions housing holy relics and royal treasures.
Mecidiye Kiosk & Bosphorus Views
We will conclude our journey in the beautiful Fourth Court. Here, we will admire the Mecidiye Kiosk (Mecidiye Köşkü), the very last pavilion built in the palace, showcasing a stunning mix of European Neoclassical architecture and Ottoman style. Right from its terrace, you will catch the absolute best panoramic photo opportunities where the Bosphorus, the Golden Horn, and the Sea of Marmara meet.

Transportation: Hotel pick-up and drop-off or any transportation to/from the meeting point.

Tour Important Information
Skip-The-Line Ticket Access: You do not need to worry about the long and exhausting ticket lines! As your licensed private guide, I will fast-track our entry and handle the ticket queue for you, so we can save our energy for the palace itself.
Dress Code for Holy Relics: To enter the Sacred Relics (Holy Relics) section, a modest dress code is strictly required by the museum authority. Both men and women must have their shoulders and knees covered. Women are also required to cover their heads inside this specific room, so please remember to bring a light scarf or shawl with you.
Stay as Long as You Want: Our guided express journey takes about 2.5 hours, but your adventure doesn't have to end there! You are more than welcome to stay inside the Topkapi Palace grounds and explore at your own pace until closing time at 05:30 PM (17:30).
Keep Your Tickets Safe: If you decide to stay after the tour, please make sure to keep your physical tickets with you at all times. There are internal checkpoints between the courtyards and sections, and you will need to show your ticket to re-enter certain areas.

“A great 2 days exploring Istanbul with Yagmur”
My wife and I spent 2 days with Yagmur as our private guide in Istanbul at the end of May 2026.
